Tottenham battle Prem rivals for Monaco star Lamine Camara.

Tottenham’s season has fallen short of expectations, with inconsistent and unproductive performances leaving them in 13th place and out of all competitions except the Europa League, where they are set to face AZ Alkmaar next. In a bid to strengthen their squad, Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race alongside three Premier League rivals to sign a Ligue 1 midfielder who has impressed in the Champions League this season.

Tottenham are getting ready for a busy summer, as they have officially thrown their support behind Ange Postecoglou, should he remain in charge after a challenging domestic campaign filled with injuries to key players. Spurs still hold a chance to end their trophy drought since 2008, as they gear up for the Europa League last-16 clash against AZ Alkmaar.

They indeed went for an active winter transfer window due to their injury crisis. But Spurs just signed young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky and also brought in Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel on loan.

Tottenham linked to the Monaco upcoming star

Tottenham’s search for midfield talent continues with links to Monaco’s highly regarded Lamine Camara. TBR Football reports that Tottenham Hotspur now competes with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea to acquire the Senegalese player. In July 2024 Camara transitioned from FC Metz to Monaco and swiftly established himself as a key first-team player through his strong debut season performance.

At only 21 years old numerous observers regard him as Senegal’s most promising player since Sadio Mané. By nature a defensive midfielder, he delivered two goals and six assists across 31 matches in all competitions.

The 23-cap Senegal international has also caught attention with his standout performances in the Champions League this season, though he couldn’t prevent Monaco from falling short of the last 16. According to TBR Football, several scouts across Europe have been closely monitoring Camara, recognising him as one of the most exciting African prospects in recent years. However, Monaco are not keen on letting him go after just one season and are expected to resist any offers. That said, their stance could change if they receive a substantial bid.

Camara is seen as the perfect successor to Bissouma, whose time at Tottenham has been underwhelming. His versatility, ability to play further forward, and creative instincts make him a strong addition to Spurs’ midfield. With Bissouma failing to meet expectations, securing Camara could provide the stability and quality Tottenham have been missing in that role.
