Tottenham Hotspur are considering activating a pre-agreed clause to sign Real Betis star Johnny Cardoso in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Real Betis star, Johnny Cardoso. The United States international has been one of the standouts for Real Betis in La Liga and has been a key player for the Spanish club’s rise since the turn of the year.
It is also said that Tottenham Hotspur has a pre-agreed clause with Real Betis, which allows the English club to sign Cardoso for just £ 21 million in the summer. Spurs negotiated this clause with Betis while negotiating a deal to sell Giovanni Lo Celso last summer. However, the clause is only valid from June 30th to July 10th.
When asked about the pre-agreed clause, the 23-year-old played down the possibility of a transfer to Spurs. Cardoso told AS,
“I don’t think about it. It’s in the hands if my father and my agent. I try to enjoy myself and to evolve. Thins will happen if my performance in the team is good.”
The Betis midfielder put in a solid display against Real Madrid and ended up being on the winning side. The young midfielder did not look out of place and scored a goal against the Spanish giants. Cardoso has also been described as “extraordinary” by Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo.
It is being reported by GIVEMESPORT that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close tab on how the 23-year-old performs till the end of the season with the aim of bringing the dynamic midfielder to N17 in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur will have to free up their wage bill to accommodate the signing of Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis. The Spurs fans are increasingly starting to believe that Yves Bissouma will be on his way out to get replaced by the Real Betis midfielder.
Bissouma has had an underwhelming season for Spurs and it looks like he has failed to live up to his potential ever since he got signed from Brighton. The Mali international’s contract runs out in the summer of 2026, and Tottenham Hotspur will have no intention to let the midfielder leave for free.
If Cardoso signs for Ange Postecoglou’s side, it will be a very shrewd deal as he will surely be an upgrade in the midfield. The 23-year-old is known for blocking passing lines and breaking up the opposition play. He is not afraid to go for a tackle and likes to rotate the ball without taking too many risks.
