Second innings on the cards as Premier League rivals eye Tottenham attacker

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to part ways with Richarlison this January.

Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison has been sensationally linked with a return to Everton

Tottenham Hotspur could plot wholesale changes to their squad after a terrible 2024/25 season.

Winning the Europa League would salvage the campaign to a certain extent, but one cannot deny the fact that Spurs have largely underperformed in the Premier League and currently lie in the bottom half of the table. An injury crisis have certainly been one of the mitigating factors behind their struggles and Ange Postecoglou deserves sympathy for missing key players for large chunks.

Several Tottenham players have been linked with an exit ahead of the summer transfer window. One of them is Richarlison, who turned down a move to Saudi Arabia to stay at White Hart Lane in 2024.

The Richarlison transfer has not quite worked out for Tottenham.

The Brazilian’s time at Spurs has been blighted by injuries and chronic inconsistency in performance levels. He has featured just 80 times for the Lilywhites since moving from Everton back in the summer of 2022. This season, he has made just nine Premier League appearances in another injured-ravaged campaign.

The Hotspur Way chiefs are understood to have grown frustrated with the lack of Richarlison’s availability. They are ready to cut their losses on him this summer, with the 27-year-old currently on the sidelines with a fresh calf issue sustained against Liverpool in February.

According to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Everton would be sensationally ready to bring Richarlison back to the blue half of Merseyside if the versatile forward is willing to make a return later this year. They view the Spurs star as a potential replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is out of contract at the end of the season and will leave Goodison Park.

Richarlison became a fan favourite during his time at Everton. The South American netted 53 goals and registered 13 assists in 152 appearances during his four-year stint with the Toffees. He holds a great relationship with the Everton fans, having seen them applauding the Goodison Park faithful after Spurs’ 3-2 defeat in January.

Tottenham were willing to sell Richarlison last year when the cash-rich Saudi Pro League clubs showed interest and their stance has not changed. The aforementioned report adds Everton are expected to be in the market for a new striker to compete with Beto and Richarlison is a player they ‘hold in high regard’.

Come the end of June, the 27-year-old will have two years left on his contract at N17. Richarlison’s stock has substantially dipped over the last 15-18 months, meaning Spurs are in no position to recoup the amount of money they spent on his services in 2022.

However, if the North Londoners plan to get a decent fee, the summer transfer window would be the ideal time to cash him in.
