Tottenham Hotspur likely to sell squad player in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur will likely try to free up space by selling fringe players, including 25-year-old Manor Solomon.

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to sell out-of-favour Manor Solomon in the summer transfer window. The Israel international was sent out on loan to Leeds United before the season started and has been one of the standout players in the Championship.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou does not seem to have a place in the squad for the 25-year-old and the club would prefer to free up some funds for the Australian manager by selling fringe players. The decision to strengthen the squad might be taken mainly because of how difficult it has been for Tottenham Hotspur this season in the Premier League, with the club being in the bottom half.

Tottenham Hotspur bought Manor Solomon from Fulham in 2022, but the Israel international failed to make an impact for the club and was hardly utilized by Ange Postecoglou ever since the Australian manager’s arrival.

However, former Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur scout Mick Brown has suggested that Leeds United should do “everything they can” to keep Solomon at the club after a fantastic campaign with the club.

Brown told Football Insider,

“You have to be smart with your business going up in the Premier League. When I was at Villa, the decision we had to make was along the lines of: ‘We’ve got what we’ve got, we’re not going to be able to attract top players.’ So we’ve got to invest wisely and make sure the players we do bring in are the right ones.”

The former Spurs scout also added,

“My point is, when these are players who you know can do a job for you and are already a part of the squad, you should do all you can to keep them around. It’s a no-brainer if Tottenham are willing to let him go and he wants to go back to Leeds.”

A win-win for Spurs and Leeds United if the deal goes through

Leeds United are enjoying a fantastic campaign in the second division of English football and are sitting comfortably at the top of the table, eight points clear of the playoff places. The Whites are looking more than likely to automatically promote to the Premier League and one of the main reasons for that will be the Tottenham Hotspur loanee Manor Solomon.

Selling the Israel international will mean that Tottenham Hotspur will record a profit in their books, helping them with the financial regulations, and it will also enable the North London club to sign a replacement in the summer without having to worry about their already decided budget.

The 25-year-old has appeared for Leeds United 28 times in the Championship this season and has mustered up an impressive seven goals and seven assists. He is being touted as one of the players of the season in the Championship and has become a fan favourite at Elland Road.
