Spurs talent Archie Gray has been one of the most improved players in the Premier League this season
Tottenham Hotspur starlet Archie Gray has been one of the standouts signing this season. The England U-21 international has been one of the few shining lights in what has been a disappointing season for Spurs. Ange Postecoglou’s side finds themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table and are 13 points off European qualification.
However, Archie Gray is one player fans will not look to blame for the club’s poor campaign. The 18-year-old has matured in his game massively since joining the Lilywhites last summer. Gray has been forced to play out-of-position as a centre-back for most of the season and has slotted in the role perfectly.

Going from the Championship to the Premier League is not always an easy jump with many players struggling to adapt to that change. However, Gray has taken it well into his stride and his performances speak for itself. His football IQ is second to none and the 18-year-old plays well beyond his years.
Spurs talent Archie Gray has increased his value
The Tottenham Hotspur youngster is now worth £50million, according to former Brentford manager Martin Allen. The Durham-born midfielder has impressed many fans, ex-players and managers in his short but effective stint at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou.
When asked about the Spurs youngster, Allen told Tottenham News,
“He’s been absolutely outstanding. I thought he’d play as a midfielder but he’s played as a centre back, obviously due to injuries. He doesn’t get phased by it, he’s such a good player.”
The ex-Brentford manager went on to add,
“He’s reliable, honest and comes from a great family. I think he’s only going to get better when he moves forward and gets to play in midfield. I thought he was a very good signing for £30m, what’s he worth now? I’d set a top target of £50m on him right now but there will be top clubs coming after him no doubt.”
How well has Gray been for the Lilywhites?
Ange Postecoglou’s side has been faced with many injuries throughout the season. Key defenders like Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have been out of the squad for a number of games because of some issues regarding their fitness. Even backup defender Radu Dragusin has confirmed that he is going to miss the rest of the season due to an ACL tear.

This has meant that Archie Gray has had to fill in that spot of a centre-back. The 18-year-old has excelled in that position as he has all the attributes that Ange Postecoglou demands his centre-backs to have. The youngster is good with the ball in his feet, provides an outlet for the keeper and breaks the opposition line through his passes.
Gray has also been a good ball carrier for Spurs as well. As per Sofascore, the ex-Leeds player has had an 89.8% passing accuracy this season. The young talent also has only one error leading to goal in 36 matches in all competitions. Archie Gray has also been involved in the build-up play and has 10 key passes to his name, along with three big chances created.
