Tottenham have scouted Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akcicek this season
Tottenham Hotspur are becoming an increasingly attractive club for youngsters looking to either make the step up in their careers or earn regular playing opportunities.
Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert arrived through the corridors at N17 last year, while Yang Min-hyeok is currently thriving on loan at Queens Park Rangers after officially joining Spurs from South Korean club Gangwon FC on January 1, 2025.
Despite the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United vying for Mathys Tel’s signature, Ange Postecoglou managed to convince the Frenchman to join the club on loan from Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day. Given the success the Lilywhites have enjoyed bringing in highly-regarded prospects from around the globe, they seemingly want to continue their transfer strategy during the summer transfer window as well.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are among several European clubs keeping tabs on Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akcicek.
Yusuf Akcicek made his senior debut for Fenerbahçe last season, but this 2024/25 campaign has seen him become an important figure in Jose Mourinho’s team. He has already made 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals.
The centre-back is a highly regarded prospect in Turkish football, thus, it isn’t surprising to see him being scouted heavily in recent months. Scouts from various clubs were present to watch the teenager in action for Fenerbahce against Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday evening. However, Akcicek did not have a memorable evening as he was hooked at half time in a 3-1 home defeat to Rangers.
The aforementioned report adds the Turkish club have placed an asking price of just €20m on the young defender, who looks like he has a bright future in the game.

Ange Postecoglou hasn’t been afraid to use youth this season, especially due to the various injury problems his side have suffered. Gray and Bergvall have been prominent figures in defence and midfield, respectively, while the Spurs boss has also handed game time to academy starlet Mikey Moore.
Big Ange’s faith in promoting youth should be enticing to Akcicek. Tottenham need defensive reinforcements to address the lack of depth in the squad next season, and investing in a young talent like Akcicek would make sense. The Turkish youth international will be a squad rotational option initially before growing into a more prominent role in the first XI under Big Ange.
