Tottenham yet to make a decision on striker’s future, says Fabrizio Romano

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to part ways with Richarlison this January.

Richarlison has been heavily linked with an exit from Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season

Despite some uncertainty surrounding his long-term position at Tottenham Hotspur, Ange Postecoglou is believed to be planning for next season behind the scenes.

After a torrid 2024/25 campaign, wholesale changes to the squad could be expected in the summer. Spurs are planning to bolster the midfield unit with the signing of AS Monaco starlet Lamine Camara, despite the club holding talks with Rodrigo Bentancur over a new contract. Yves Bissouma is set to enter the final year of his contract in June and the club are looking to cash him in.

The Lilywhites’ forward department could also look different by the time next season kicks off, with Timo Werner certain to return to RB Leipzig after his loan deal expires and Son Heung-min being put on the chopping block. It will also be interesting to see whether Mathys Tel decides to join the club permanently after arriving on loan from Bayern Munich during the winter transfer window.

The Richarlison transfer has not quite worked out for Tottenham.

Richarlison is also another forward who has been linked with an exit from N17 for some time now. However, according to transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have yet to decide on Richarlison’s future and are not expected to do so soon as their focus is on finishing the season as strongly as possible.

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Brazilian forward’s future remains “open” heading into the final few months of the ongoing campaign.

“No time now for decisions yet. Spurs are focused on finishing the season in the best way possible, then… we will see. It’s an open story,” Romano wrote.

Richarlison has endured another injury-plagued campaign in North London. The versatile forward is currently sidelined with a calf problem—which is the third setback he has endured this season. This has led to him missing 34 games already, limiting the Brazilian to only 14 appearances across all competitions thus far.

David Moyes is apparently planning to bring Richarlison back to Everton

While Tottenham are yet to decide whether to continue with Richarlison or not beyond this season, Everton have been reportedly planning to re-sign him. David Moyes is apparently eager to open discussions over a deal for the Spurs star early in the next transfer window, as the Toffees prepare for life in a brand-new Bramley Moore Dock Stadium next season.

The South American will enter the final two years of his contract at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, but with consistent fitness issues plaguing his Hotspur Way career, fans have not seen any value from the £60million Spurs spent on his signature in 2022.

Thus, it would be wise for Tottenham to cut their losses and sell Richarlison during the forthcoming summer transfer window to fund other transfers.
