Ange Postecoglou is sold on Lucas Bergvall potential following Bournemouth showing
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has relied heavily on Lucas Bergvall throughout the season. The Spurs manager has been dealt with a lot of injuries and because of that, Bergvall has been forced into the starting 11 early in the season. However, the Swedish midfielder has made the starting spot his own after taking this opportunity.
Lucas Bergvall joined the North London club last summer from Swedish club Djurgardens. The 19-year-old was on the radar of many clubs and was also a trialist at Manchester United last summer. However, Bergvall decided to move to Spurs and play under Ange Postecoglou.

Bergvall has already featured 35 times for Spurs in all competitions and has been one of the standout players for Ange’s side. Having been played in various positions by the manager, the Swedish player does not look out of place at all and has forced his way into Ange Postecoglou’s main team.
As per Sofascore, Bergvall has an accurate passing rate of 88.8% and has completed 827 accurate passes this season. The young talent also has created five big chances and played 20 key passes in all competitions this season.
Bergvall is one of the few positives for Spurs this season
Tottenham Hotspur are having a season to forget, with the club sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou’s job is also said to be on the line and he might face the sack sooner than he expected.
However, Lucas Bergvall has been one of the standout players for the Lilywhites this season. The 19-year-old is trusted by his manager and has already played 35 games for the club this season. But, the Swedish talent was left on the bench in the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Sunday.
This came as a surprise and shock to many Spurs fans and many wondered if this was because Ange Postecoglou was managing the youngster’s game time. The Spurs manager was asked about Bergvall’s impact on the team and his omission from the lineup in his press conference.
Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold’s transcript mentioned what Ange had to say,
“Yeah, Lucas was great. He has been great but he has played a lot and we’ve just got to be mindful of that. He’s becoming an important part of our team. I thought he made a real big impact when he came on.”

The Spurs manager went on to add,
“Like I said we were sloppy when we were on the ball in the first half and he’s one who takes a bit more care with it. He’s a technician and he carries the ball really well. I thought he and Sonny made a really good impact when they came on.”
Lucas Bergvall has certainly impressed Ange Postecoglou and is quickly becoming one of the best young talents in England. The 19-year-old will be looking to help his side on Thursday in their crucial game against AZ Alkmaar.
