Dembele opens up on the future of Tottenham star Yves Bissouma

Tottenham gave another lacklustre performance in their recent draw with Bournemouth. It was still a flat contest, but Bournemouth was slightly ahead in the first half before they broke the deadlock. After that, they were clearly on top until the 65th minute when they extended their lead to 2-0. But just two minutes later, Tottenham hit back through a spectacular strike by Pape Sarr, followed by Son giving justice to a penalty to earn the two sides a point in the end.

Their inconsistency continues though and Yves Bissouma’s international teammate and close friend, Bassirou Dembele, has weighed in on the latter’s situation at Tottenham, making a big claim about the former Brighton star’s future prospects.

Dembele opens up on the future of Tottenham star Yves Bissouma.

Once a regular starter, Yves Bissouma is no longer a guaranteed pick in Ange Postecoglou’s lineup, with Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Sarr, and Lucas Bergvall now ahead of him in the pecking order. As the 28-year-old approaches the final year of his contract this June, speculation about his future has intensified. Reports from a few days ago suggested that Postecoglou has grown impatient with Bissouma’s inconsistent performances, leading Tottenham to consider offloading him in the summer.

Bissouma tipped for resurrection at the highest level

Bissouma’s international teammate and friend, Bassirou Dembele views his situation at Spurs as a temporary setback, confident that Bissouma has the quality to play for the world’s top ten clubs. The Slavia Prague midfielder encouraged the Tottenham star to stay in the Premier League, revealing that several big clubs had shown interest in him in the past.

Dembele showed strong support for Bissouma, speaking to Africa Foot that the midfielder must remain in the Premier League. He believes that Bissouma has the quality to play for the top ten clubs of this world and still has promising years ahead.

Here are the kind words of encouragement, Dembele said for his friend speaking to Africa foot

“We have to wait until the end of the season. Let’s not forget that he has a market value of €35m and is under contract until 2026. He is only 28 and has a bright future ahead of him.”

“Of course, he is lacking playing time at the moment, but he has already been through a similar situation at Lille, before bouncing back brilliantly. At the time, he was already courted by Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa, before signing for Brighton for around €29m in 2018.”

Dembele keeps his hope for Bissouma alive by stressing that the competitiveness and toughness of the latter will help him through this phase. He cannot, however, mention specifics but hinted that the player had long been awarded interests from top European clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Juventus. Patience is essential, he noted, and that the rest will be revealed when the time is up.
