Tottenham defender Kevin Danso may have sustained a knock against Bournemouth on Sunday
Tottenham Hotspur continue to produce underwhelming displays despite having welcomed several key players back from injury in recent weeks.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were beaten 1-0 by AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of the Europa League last-16 tie last week, meaning they have work to do in the return leg later this week to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition. They were down and out 2-0 against Bournemouth on Sunday before a freakish goal from Pape Matar Sarr followed by a Son Heung-min spot-kick salvaged a point in the Premier League.
The recent poor results have only fuelled further speculation surrounding the Australian tactician’s future at White Hart Lane, with Daniel Levy already eyeing potential replacements. The club chiefs are expecting more cohesive performances and positive results now that the injury bill has shrunk. However, as Ange Postecoglou admitted in January, every time he sees a light at the end of the tunnel, it ends up being an oncoming train.

Speaking on The Tottenham Way Podcast, TV broadcaster Marcus Buckland has revealed he has heard a rumour over the weekend that Spurs defender Kevin Danso has picked up a knock. Buckland apparently has sources at the club given his role as a broadcaster with the BBC, Sky Sports and Amazon over the years, and he has delivered a worrying update on the Austrian international.
“So, there were some encouraging signs there. I don’t know. I’ve heard a rumour that Danso might have picked up a little bit of a knock,’ Buckland said on the Tottenham Way Podcast.
“We will find out more about that later in the week.”

Kevin Danso has quickly grown into his role at Spurs since arriving on loan from RC Lens during the winter transfer window. The 26-year-old has delivered some solid performances during the injury absences of first-choice centre-back pairing, Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven, earning the trust of the gaffer straightaway.

The centre-back is a strong character and leader, someone Tottenham needed at the back especially in the absence of Romero. Not only is he aerially powerful, Danso possesses good composure on the ball and can pick out passes from deep. Thus, the former Southampton man picking up a knock ahead of our season’s biggest game is a blow to Big Ange.
We just hope Danso’s knock is a minor one and he is fit to face AZ Alkmaar, but if he misses out, Big Ange will expect Romero and Van de Ven to produce dominant performances in defence.
