Tottenham are among several clubs interested in signing Genoa defender Koni De Winter this summer
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to continue their squad reshuffle under Ange Postecoglou this summer after welcoming three new faces during the January transfer window. One of the players to arrive then was centre-back Kevin Danso.
Spurs upped their ante to sign Danso on loan from RC Lens after learning about Radu Dragusin’s season-ending ACL injury. Having ruptured ACL in his right knee, Dragusin is expected to be out for the best part of 2025. This means Ange Postecoglou currently has three specialist centre-backs in Danso, Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven.
Romero and Van de Ven have spent majority chunks of the campaign on the sidelines, while Ben Davies—considered more of a cover at centre-back rather than left-back by Postecoglou—is out of contract at the end of the season. No wonder, the Lilywhites are planning to bolster their defensive ranks before the 2025/26 season commences.

According to a report from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham are among several clubs to have enquired about Genoa defender Koni De Winter. The other interested parties are Manchester United, West Ham United, FC Porto, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Inter Milan are currently pressing for the centre-back alongside Napoli and AS Roma.
Koni De Winter has grown in stature at Genoa since moving from Juventus in 2023—initially on loan. The obligation clause in the Belgian’s contract was triggered last summer. The centre-back has racked up 48 appearances for Genoa, netting three goals and supplying an assist.
A hamstring injury ruled him out for two months earlier this season, yet De Winter’s performances—both in central defence and right-back—have been impressive enough to catch the eye of a host of European clubs.

The aforementioned report adds that Genoa have put a €30m asking price on their star defender. The Antwerp-born talent has made it clear that he will give priority to the most ambitious project presented to him and the one that will help him take the next step in his career.
Tottenham have an ambitious project currently led by Postecoglou. The Australian’s future has been up in the air for some time now, but regardless of whether he stays or not next season, the North Londoners must try to entice De Winter into being a part of an exciting project that is being built upon with fresh talents with bags of potential.
