Tottenham honcho Daniel Levy wants Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola to replace Ange Postecoglou in the summer
There has been a sense of increasing pressure on Ange Postecoglou owing to the inconsistent performances of Tottenham Hotspur this season. This has led to speculation surrounding the Australian tactician’s future at N17, with a wide section of the fanbase wanting him gone.
While there were silverware hopes beyond the Premier League, exits from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the space of three days last month added to the discontent among the supporters at White Hart Lane. Now, all eyes are on Europa League glory as Ange Postecoglou’s men look to overcome the 1-0 deficit from the first leg of the last-16 tie against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday evening.
The club bosses have supported Postecoglou during the difficult times, but with key players such as Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven and Dominic Solanke returning recently, they expect better performances and positive results from now and until the end of the season. And if the 59-year-old fails to beat AZ Alkmaar in the second leg, his future will come under even more scrutiny.

If reports are to be believed, Spurs honcho Daniel Levy is interested in recruiting Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola ahead of the 2025/26 season. It will be interesting to see who they get if Daniel Levy decides to part ways with Postecoglou, but Andoni Iraola’s name has been doing the rounds of late.
Now, ex-Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson thinks Bournemouth would not stand in the Spanish tactician’s way if the Lilywhites were to sign him as a replacement for Postecoglou.
“Tottenham’s a massive club. It’s going to be a pull for any manager, regardless of what league position they’re in,” Paul Robinson exclusively told Tottenham News.
“I think if they don’t win the Europa League this season, we’re talking hypothetically, but if they don’t win the Europa League this season, whoever comes in next year can only have a better season than what’s happened this year. Sat 13th in the Premier League is not where Tottenham want to be.
“We all know Iraola at Bournemouth. But I think he’s part of a project there. It’d be difficult to get him away. But we know Bournemouth in the same way that they do with players. They’ll let managers move on.
“So if Tottenham are willing to stump up the compensation for Iraola, then yes, he’s certainly a manager that you would look at.”

Andoni Iraola has done an admirable job at Bournemouth since being appointed in 2023. The 42-year-old has made some exciting additions to his squad, given the players confidence and a playing identity. The Cherries are now in contention for a spot in Europe, playing some lovely stuff despite missing some key players due to injury.

Wary of interest from Tottenham, Bournemouth are reportedly planning to hold discussions with Iraola over a new contract next week. They want to reward the Spaniard for his good work at the Vitality Stadium as well as make it difficult for the Lilywhites to poach him in the summer.
Regardless of how big an entity we are, Levy and Co. will be required to pay a high compensation to sign Iraola if he agrees to a new contract at Bournemouth.
