Tottenham Hotspur has not had a memorable season under Ange Postecoglou. The North London club in the bottom half of the Premier League table and have just not been consistent enough to be anywhere close to the Champions League qualifying spots.
Spurs face AZ Alkmaar in their most important game of the season. Ange’s men are losing 1-0 on aggregate after an embarrassing loss in the first leg of the Europa League Last 16. However, Tottenham Hotspur have a chance to redeem themselves in the upcoming second leg on Thursday at home.

The Spurs players need to be up for it from the first minute if they want to have any chance of winning a long-awaited silverware and bring a major trophy back to N17 after 17 years.
Tottenham’s season has been disrupted with injuries with many key players being unavailable for a long period of time. Star defender Cristian Romero, record signing Dominic Solanke, attacking midfielder James Maddison and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario have all been unavailable for the Australian manager at some point or the other.
Ange on his ‘second season trophy’ statement
Earlier in the season, Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou was asked about his side’s chances of winning a trophy this season. The Australian manager replied by saying he tends to win trophies in his second season at any club.
However, when this was said, Spurs were not dealt with a rough hand and were not dealing with so many injuries to a number of key players. Since that bold statement, the North London club have been out of the Premier League race, out of the FA Cup and been brutally knocked out by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
As transcribed by Football.london, when asked if he regretted that statement, Ange said,
“My view has always been when you’re asked something, you answer it. People have used it for their own purposes to make out I was making a bold claim. I was just stating a fact (about the past).”

The Tottenham Hotspur manager went on to add,
“If we do win a trophy this season then some people might say ‘oh isn’t it nice that he did that after making such a bold claim.’ It wasn’t. People will just use it the way they want to whatever the circumstances.”
Ange’s men will be hoping to win their game against AZ Alkmaar first before thinking about winning the Europa League. They still have a chance as the game is at home and the Spurs fans will be up for it for the get-go.
