Tottenham target Marc Guehi is set to inform Crystal Palace officials of his desire to leave this summer
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a busy summer window as they look to rejuvenate Ange Postecoglou’s squad further after an underwhelming Premier League campaign which currently sees them languish in the bottom half of the table.
The Lilywhites have been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions, with injuries across the campaign having disrupted their season. Ange Postecoglou and his boys made it to the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday by beating AZ Alkmaar, and this competition remains their only feasible path to a trophy this season and Champions League qualification for next term.
Spurs have been linked with numerous players over the last few months. They did strengthen the squad in the January transfer window with three new faces but also missed out on a couple of targets. One of those was Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi.

Tottenham made an audacious attempt to sign Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi by tabling a shock £70m offer during the winter transfer window. But the South London club immediately rejected that offer as they didn’t want to sell their 24-year-old star defender midway through the campaign and weaken their hopes of finishing in the top half of the Premier League table.
Now, though, the Lilywhites have received a boost in their hunt for Guehi’s signature. According to a report from CaughtOffside, the England international is set to ask to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season amid interest from several Premier League bigwigs including Tottenham. He is planning to hold a meeting with the club officials to inform them that he wants to move on for greener pastures.
Guehi has been with the Eagles since July 2021, when he arrived from Chelsea in an £18 million deal. A firm favourite at Selhurst Park, he has established himself as one of the best in his position in the top flight in the last few years. The England international has been a rock at the back, appearing in 27 of his side’s 28 Premier League games this season thus far.

The Abidjan-born talent’s consistent performances have made him a sought-after commodity heading into the summer, when he will have just a year left on his contract (Transfermarkt) at Selhurst Park. Heading into the last year of his deal, Palace would have no option but to cash the defender in as he doesn’t look keen to pen an extension.

Now, Guehi’s desire to end his time at Palace possibly offers a boost to Tottenham in landing him. Spurs’ defensive issues have been well-documented throughout the season, and while they signed Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens with a buy obligation clause during the January transfer window, Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven’s patchy injury records mean they’d need to dip in the summer market for a new centre-back.
That being said, it is to be seen whether the Lilywhites reignite their interest in the former Chelsea man.
