Kevin Danso suffered a hamstring injury in the closing stages of Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth
The injury issues at Tottenham Hotspur are slowly starting to ease off of late. Ange Postecoglou welcomed several players back from injury before the ongoing international break.
But as has been the case with Spurs this season, when they have recovered players from injury they’ve lost a couple from the other end. Kevin Danso, having joined the club on loan from RC Lens during the winter transfer window, was performing very well. He has become a fan favourite with his aggressive, no-nonsense defending, starting four consecutive Premier League games.
Unfortunately, the centre-back sustained a hamstring during the latter stages of the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at home. He hasn’t featured since then, sitting out the subsequent three games. Ange Postecoglou ruled Kevin Danso out until after the international break before his side’s Europa League round of 16 second leg against AZ Alkmaar.

Discussing in deep about Danso’s injury, Dr Rajpal Brar—a doctor in physical therapy and sports scientist—shared his verdict on when the defender could return from his hamstring injury.
“Based on the manager’s comments, it isn’t too serious and he may be able to return following the international break,” Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.
“This sounds like a Grade 1 thigh injury.
“That being said, these can take some time to get full clarity on so the worst case would be a more severe injury which would mean over four weeks out and seeing him return by the end of April.”

Danso has become a key player at the back for Tottenham, especially during the injury absences of first-choice centre-back duo Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven. The Austrian international was delivering decent performances regardless of the games’ end results.
Hopefully, the 26-year-old has not suffered a serious hamstring injury and is back serving the badge and entertaining the crowd at White Hart Lane after the international break. Hamstring injuries are very tricky and the players have to be treated very well by the medical department. The rehab also must be proper before a player can be reintegrated into the squad.

A return after the international break seems to be on the cards for Danso but he may take a couple of games to get back to full speed. Rushing him back could risk further setbacks, so the Spurs medical department has to be mindful of that. Fortunately, the return of Romero and Van de Ven is a massive relief for Postecoglou.
