Daniel Levy keen for former Tottenham man to ‘return and finish what he started’

Tottenham Hotspur chairman holds meeting with Fabio Paratici to persuade him to return to North London

Tottenham Hotspur have started planning for the summer transfer window and are not waiting until the 2024/25 campaign ends. But they are looking to get a specialist in recruitment on their payroll first before making concrete decisions on transfer dealings.

Renowned Sporting Director Fabio Paratici has been linked with a sensational return to Spurs after leaving the club in 2023. He served as the Sporting Director of the Lilywhites for two years between 2021 and 2023, during which he signed several players, including Rodrigo Bentancur, Destiny Udogie, Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero, from Italy.

Fabio Paratici is currently serving a sporting ban for the Prisma/capital gains case, which will expire in the summer. The Italian, who left the role at Spurs back in April 2023, is set to make a return to football following his 18-month suspension for financial irregularities during his time at Juventus.

Ever since the news about Paratici’s ban being lifted emerged, the North Londoners have been credited with an interest. Serie A giants AC Milan are laying the groundwork to hire him as their new sporting director. However, there appears to be substance in Spurs’ interest in bringing the 52-year-old back to North London. He was close to joining AC Milan last week, but that process has slowed down for Tottenham’s entry into the mix.

According to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Daniel Levy also held talks with Paratici last week, in which the Tottenham honcho told him to ‘return and finish what you started’.

While Milan feel they have an advantage as they want to give the Italian executive full power of everything football-related along with re-hiring Max Allegri as their new head coach, Levy for his part remains calm as he wants Paratici to come, take control of the sporting activities and lead the project which he started.

The Italian director’s ban from football ends of June 30, 2025. Paratici is keen to make a swift return to football and has been eyeing up a range of possibilities, with Spurs and Milan both linked. He does have time to decision, but with a big summer ahead for the Lilywhites where a new head coach could be appointed to replace Ange Postecoglou, Levy will expect the former Juventus director to not delay much and make a quick call.

Reputable Spurs podcast John Wenham feels Paratici could help Tottenham set up a meeting with Xavi Hernandez, who has emerged as a new potential option to replace Postecoglou. The Australian tactician needs to at least win the Europa League trophy to have some hopes of clinging to his job after a disastrous domestic campaign.
