Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola appears to be the frontrunner to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham
Thursday night’s 1-0 defeat to London rivals Chelsea has further intensified the pressure of Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou. It left Spurs stranded 14th in the table, and while there is no threat of relegation, the fact that they are only 14 points above the dreaded drop zone is extremely alarming.
Things do not look promising going forward for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham, who are level on points with Everton and West Ham below them, putting plenty of pressure on their final eight games to ensure they don’t drop any further down the table.
The Greece-born Australian tactician’s future has been under a lot of speculation over weeks and months now. The 59-year-old’s long-term future at White Hart Lane is up in the air due to the team’s underwhelming results and his tense relationship with the fans, so, Daniel Levy and Co. are putting plans in place for the summer.
Spurs are hunting for potential replacements for Big Ange. Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a sensational return to the North London club, while Fulham’s Marco Silva is on the radar as well. Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is apparently Daniel Levy’s top target, thanks to the outstanding work he has done on a shoestring budget at the Vitality Stadium.
On Friday, Bournemouth star Marcos Senesi joined the talkSPORT show. The central defender was asked if he could see Andoni Iraola leaving Bournemouth for another club.
Marcos Senesi stated that Iraola definitely has the potential to go to another club, although he is hoping the Spanish tactician stays with the Cherries for the time being.
“Is it your belief that we will see Iraola in charge of a huge club, with all due respect to Bournemouth, a massive club at some stage,” Jim White asked Senesi.
“Yeah, he’s doing brilliant here. He has the potential to go to other clubs 100%, but hopefully he will stay with us,” Senesi replied.

With results not improving and fan support rapidly fading, Ange now finds himself staring down the possibility of the sack. Therefore, that would leave Tottenham once again searching for a new head coach, and it is looking more and more likely that Bournemouth’s Iraola would be the man to take over from Ange.
Iraola has a release clause worth more than £5million in his existing contract at the Vitality Stadium, which isn’t expected to be a problem for Spurs. Bournemouth are competing for a European spot this season, and if the Spaniard helps the club achieve their objective, it would become difficult for Levy to poach him from the south coast outfit.
