Dane Scarlett was not a part of the travelling Tottenham squad vs Chelsea on Thursday evening
After losing 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur are now gearing up for the challenge of Southampton at home on Sunday.
The N17 club are desperate to bounce back to winning ways against Southampton and get some momentum back ahead of the vital Europa League quarter-final tie with Eintracht Frankfurt. Spurs are down in 14th spot on the Premier League table and eliminated from domestic cup competitions, so it makes sense for Ange Postecoglou to put all the eggs in the Europa League basket.
Meanwhile, ahead of the Southampton clash, the North Londoners still have a couple of injuries to deal with. Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Timo Werner and Kevin Danso are still out, with the former trying his level best to attain full fitness for the second leg against Frankfurt on April 17. Richarlison and Danso are progressing well.

Without a doubt, Ange Postecoglou needs all the help he can get to enjoy a strong finish to the season. Players dropping out like flies this season have not helped his cause at all.
Dane Scarlett was surprisingly missing for the trip to Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old was a late substitute against Fulham before the international break, but was not a part of the travelling squad against Chelsea in midweek. Now, Postecoglou has dropped a fitness update on Dane Scarlett during his pre-match presser.
“Dane has been a little bit sore. It has been a little bit difficult for Dane, he has come off not playing a lot from his loan, and he was a bit sore from his last few days and we decided to give him the weekend off. It’s not a big issue and hopefully he is back training today,” Postecoglou told Football London.

Dane Scarlett was recalled from his loan spell at Oxford United in January. Since returning to Spurs, he has featured in six games across all competitions, scoring two goals. Ange and his team are reportedly thinking of giving the young Englishman a prominent role in the team next season, suggesting he appears to be in the club’s long-term plans.
Scarlett will hope to shake off his minor problem and become a part of the squad that faces Southampton on Sunday. Our gaffer will be desperately hoping that no player picks up an injury in this game, as this could severely impact his team in the coming weeks.
