Standout Premier League star ready to make Tottenham switch; rivals hold the cards

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze would be open to joining Tottenham Hotspur if an opportunity arises this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a busy summer window as they look to their squad after an underwhelming Premier League campaign, which currently sees Ange Postecoglou’s side languish in the bottom half of the table.

The North London outfit have been linked with numerous players over the last few months. They did strengthen the squad in the January transfer window with three new faces, but also missed out on a couple of targets. One of those was Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze.

Eberechi Eze has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months, with links away from Crystal Palace. Most of the Premier League bigwigs want to sign the Palace star in the summer, so Spurs are expected to face stiff competition to land his signature.

Long-term admirers of the Greenwich-born talent, Tottenham are considering a potential deal for Eze ahead of the summer transfer window. The Eagles, as expected, do not want to sell the creative midfielder, who has a £68million release clause in his contract that runs until the summer of 2027.

However, Eze would be open to a move to Tottenham if an opportunity arises. This is the view of former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown who thinks the England international would be ready to join Spurs, although he is unlikely to force through a move from Selhurst Park.

“They want to keep him [Eze] and I don’t expect he’s the type of player to force through a move unless Palace’s asking price is met,” Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider.

“Tottenham have been interested for a long time and he’s their type of player. If Eze has the opportunity to move to a team like Tottenham, I think he would be open to that, and it’s not slight on Palace and what they’ve done.

“So that move wouldn’t surprise me, but it will only be on Palace’s terms and they want to keep him.”

Ange Postecoglou would love a dynamic playmaker in his squad next season

Brown’s recent revelation of Eze’s desire to join Tottenham should be considered a big boost. The North London club have lacked a versatile playmaker who can operate off the left and centrally as a No.10, making Eze a perfect fit.

The 26-year-old remains an ambitious target for Daniel Levy’s club, with his skill set, Premier League experience and versatility capable of refreshing Postecoglou’s attacking options and adding more potency in the final third of the pitch. The ex-QPR man would immediately enhance Spurs’ squad, adding both quality and depth.

It would be a huge statement of intent if Levy manages to pull off Eze’s signing in the summer. If our club bosses feel the player is worth £68million, we must not hesitate to go all out for him.
