Tottenham are set to hold more talks with AC Milan for Fikayo Tomori in the next few weeks
Tottenham Hotspur have performed far below their standards this season.
One of the main reasons behind the North Londoners’ poor performances and results is the persistent injury problems. While they have largely overcome the injury issues with only a few now on the sidelines, the absence of several key personnel have just not allowed Ange Postecoglou’s side to get any sort of momentum.
As a result, radical changes are expected to take place when the transfer window reopens in June. The Lilywhites are seemingly planning to reinforce their backline, prioritising the addition of a new central defender. This decision comes after the injuries to Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso have exposed Spurs’ lack of quality cover in that area of the pitch.

Before signing Danso on loan from RC Lens during the winter transfer window, Tottenham had attempted to bring in AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori. The North London side were in advanced negotiations and had even almost agreed a deal with AC Milan, only for the centre-back to snub the opportunity to return to the Premier League.
Now, according to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are planning to make a summer move for Fikayo Tomori. They have revived their interest in the England international after Milan are considering slashing their asking price of €35m to €40m.
Tomori has been in and out of the Milan first XI this season. The Rossoneri are set to miss out on a spot in next season’s Champions League, which could force them to sell some of their players to raise funds for manager Sergio Conceicao to strengthen his squad. The Serie A side view Tomori as a sellable asset and would be open to offers for him at around €30m.

The aforementioned report adds that Tottenham find themselves in a strong position to sign the Calgary-born star. They are expected to hold more talks with Milan in the coming weeks for the centre-back.

Ange needs a new central defender owing to Romero and Van de Ven being injury-prone, and Dragusin unlikely to feature again this season following an ACL rupture. At 27, Tomori is at a good age to come in and make a difference at the back for Spurs. He is a Premier League-proven commodity and has the required qualities to thrive in Ange’s system.
However, it would take some effort from the Hotspur Way bosses to convince Tomori of the club’s exciting project, as he is happy with life at Milan and wants to stay there for a long time.
