Tottenham Hotspur wants Chelsea star Noni Madueke to fix their perennially struggling attacking department during the upcoming summer transfer window. Madueke has played a regular role at Chelsea but could leave under the right circumstances, given their ongoing financial situation.

Chelsea have spent a massive amount of money in the market since the ownership change but their philosophy has failed. The West London-based club could face pressure from the governing bodies over their finances, forcing them to sell many players.

While Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League table, the Lilywhites find themselves at 14th under manager Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou has struggled to get the best out of his team this season with the Europa League remaining his salvation.

Spurs frustratingly drew Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 in the first leg of the Europa League Quarter-final at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. As they face the German club away in the second leg, one eye of Spurs is already focused on summer.

Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Spurs want Madueke from Chelsea with Aston Villa as their competition. He said:

“Madueke is a player I rate very highly. I see so much ability in him, but at the moment it’s still unproven. He’s in and out of the Chelsea team, there are questions about whether he fits in the manager’s plans, and that’s not going to be good for his career. I think he needs to be playing consistently, and playing in a way that suits his assets. That’s something he’ll be looking at too, so if clubs are prepared to offer him that, he’ll certainly be interested in the possibility of a move. Tottenham are one of the teams who have been looking at him, I think Aston Villa have been too. From what I hear, Tottenham believe they can tempt him to make that move because they’re prepared to offer him regular playing time. He’ll be given the opportunity to make a name for himself and establish himself as a key player. If he can play regularly at Tottenham, there’s no reason why he can’t do that.”

Madueke has played 31 games for Chelsea in all competitions this season, providing 10 goals and four assists. However, the 23-year-old has failed to complete 90 minutes in most of the matches and frequently gets criticised for inconsistency.

Nevertheless, the Englishman has bags of trickery and the ability to challenge fullbacks with his dribbling which often proves handful. The 23-year-old is still developing but nearing the peak years, putting him in a perfect place for the Spurs.

Tottenham have played Brennan Johnson as their right-winger and the Welshman has delivered inconsistent performances throughout this season. Johnson and Madueke could potentially push each other to break that inconsistency with Spurs benefitting from their competition. According to Transfermarkt, Madueke has a market value of €40m, a realistic value considering the inflated nature of the transfer market.
