Tottenham fans left frustrated as Ange Postecoglou continues to misuse star in crushing defeat to Wolves

Supporters urge Postecoglou to rethink Tel’s role after standout display on the left flank
Tottenham’s promising unbeaten run, which included a win over Southampton and a draw against Frankfurt, came to a crashing halt with a 4-2 defeat to Wolves… their 17th loss of the season. Once again, inconsistency proved costly, and now, supporters are beginning to question Ange Postecoglou’s tactics. The Australian manager finds himself under growing pressure. One rare bright spot in the opening half was Mathys Tel, who offered flashes of brilliance on the left flank – a position in which Postecoglou has seldom used him. The Bayern Munich loanee went on to score in the second half, and many Spurs fans now believe he should have been deployed in that role far more often.

Life didn’t get any easier for Tottenham fans or Ange Postecoglou at Molineux on Sunday.
Spurs fell behind just two minutes in, with Rayan Ait-Nouri capitalising on a weak punch from Guglielmo Vicario to open the scoring. Since his arrival in February, Postecoglou has handed Mathys Tel only four opportunities on the left flank, instead deploying him as a centre-forward in seven of his 11 outings.
Tel has already delivered two goals from his limited chances on the left, compared to just one via a penalty in his eight appearances up front. Unsurprisingly, fans now feel the Australian boss has misused the Spurs No.11.
One supporter even described it as “absolutely insane” that the 19-year-old hasn’t been played on the left more frequently, marking a harsh but telling critique of Postecoglou’s tactical decisions.
Fans react as the youngster shines in the left wing

A second Spurs fan claimed Tel has seemed like a “square peg in a round hole” ever since joining from Bayern Munich and being used through the middle, calling it a “typical Tottenham thing” to witness.
Meanwhile, another supporter criticised Postecoglou for being too stubborn to respond to Tel’s underwhelming performance at Molineux. They believe he will still start Heung-min Son on the left against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, even though the South Korean has struggled in that role all season.
Son, Tottenham’s No.7, has only managed eight goals in 34 appearances while playing on the left this term.
