Jamie Carragher believes Europa League exit will be final nail for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is not having a good second season at the club. The Lilywhites are nowhere near the top ten in the Premier League table, and the league campaign is already a write-off. They also registered their 17th league defeat of the season after losing 4-2 against relegation contenders Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

It has been a season to forget for the Spurs fans, and many loyal supporters are visibly frustrated with the lack of intent shown by the club’s board and the manager. There have been multiple protests before the games against Daniel Levy, and calls for a change of ownership have also surfaced again recently. Ange Postecoglou has also been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons recently.

Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy have come under scrutiny for Tottenham’s recent failures.

The ex-Celtic manager came at a crossroads with the Spurs fans during the club’s game against Chelsea just after the international break. Big Ange was jeered by his own supporters during that game, and his ‘cupping the ears’ incident did not go down as something the travelling Tottenham fans enjoyed.

Jamie Carragher talks about Ange Postecoglou’s tough time at Tottenham

It has been anything but smooth sailing for Tottenham this season. The Lilywhites have just not gotten started, and the free-flowing, attacking football is nowhere to be seen. In fact, it has been a season full of individual errors or bad coaching that has led the club into a freefall and in the bottom half of the Premier League table. There is no style of play present, and the North London club have just lost their identity.

Jamie Carragher spoke about how tough it has been for Ange Postecoglou in his second season at the club. Talking on Sky Sports, the Liverpool legend said,

“It cannot go on any longer and if they lose to Eintracht Frankfurt in the cup, it probably would be a ‘shake hands and move on to something different’ for both parties in terms of the manager and the club.”

Carragher added,

“Spurs are so open, they’re always conceding goals. Some of the results we’ve seen this season, there’s mitigating circumstances in terms of the injuries they’ve had but they haven’t won enough games. This has been going on for a long time, nearly 18 months, with them conceding goals and losing games.”

The renowned pundit suggested that Tottenham are a great team to watch as a neutral fan as there would always be goals in their games, but it is a tough time for a Spurs fan to watch their team struggle under Ange Postecoglou. Carragher believes that the problems under Big Ange started in his first season, and it’s been going on since his first ten games in charge of the club.
