Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Danso is ruled out of the Europa League tie vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Injuries have taken their toll on Tottenham Hotspur this season, with much of their domestic shortcomings arriving as a result of that situation.
Ange Postecoglou must, of course, shoulder the rest of the blame for what has been a hugely underwhelming season. The Lilywhites were beaten 4-2 by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Sunday—a result that followed the 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.
The Spurs boss would have liked his team to go into the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals with some confidence. However, that was not the case as the North Londoners suffered their 17th defeat of the Premier League season at the hands of Wolves.
Ange Postecoglou knows that the only way he could hold onto his job is by winning the Europa League. However, the Australian must guide his side beyond Eintracht Frankfurt to the competition’s semis without defender Kevin Danso.

Kevin Danso, who arrived at the club on loan from RC Lens during the winter transfer window, suffered a hamstring injury during the latter stages of the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in March. He hasn’t featured since then, sitting out the subsequent eight games.
Now, injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has given the latest update on the Austrian international’s injury condition. He feels that Danso will miss the return leg vs Frankfurt in Germany but may be in contention to feature for the next Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on April 21.
“Based on the timeline, with this being potentially an over-six-week return, it sounds like a Grade 3 hamstring injury and not the Grade 1 it appeared to be earlier,” Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.
“I do not see him returning for the second leg of the Europa League, but he may be in contention for a late fitness test for the next Premier League game.”

After learning about Radu Dragusin’s season-ending ACL injury, the Tottenham bosses upped their ante and landed Danso only a few days before the winter window slammed shut. Owing to injuries to first-choice centre-back pairing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, the Austrian quickly became a trusted member of the team’s backline.
The 26-year-old quickly endeared himself to the White Hart Lane faithful with his no-nonsense, aggressive and robust performances. As it has been the theme of the season, Ange has welcomed a few players back from injury and simultaneously lost a couple of them to injury issues. The same happened with Danso too, and he now looks unlikely to be a part of the travelling squad for the crucial European game in Frankfurt.

Fortunately, Postecoglou now has Romero and Van de Ven at his disposal back fit, and the duo must neutralise Frankfurt’s counter-attacks, creativity and physicality to keep a clean sheet and improve Tottenham’s chances of beating them in midweek.
