“Nothing will change”- Daniel Levy squarely blamed for embarassing Tottenham statistic

Tottenham have managed to win just one trophy during Daniel Levy’s tenure at the club

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is not doing a good job at the club. The Lilywhites have struggled to get results for quite some time now, and the problem seems to be much bigger than the manager itself. Many fans will blame Ange Postecoglou for the failures this season, but at some point, it is a much bigger issue than that.

The managers come and go at Spurs, but the struggle to win titles remains. But the one common factor amongst all the struggles is Daniel Levy. The Englishman has been the Chairman at Hotspur Way for 25 years now, and the Lilywhites have managed to win just one major trophy during that time. The Spurs fans have run out of patience with him, and multiple protests are held to call for his sacking.

Daniel Levy has to take the blame for the lack of success on the pitch at Tottenham.

This season has also been a failure again. Ange Postecoglou has struggled to get results, and fans will argue that he should have been sacked during the March international break. But Daniel Levy persisted with the Australian manager, and now the results have still not improved. It is clear to see that Levy is using the Spurs manager as a cover to divert all the blame for how poor this season has been.

Joe Cole blasts in on Daniel Levy’s Tottenham tenure

Daniel Levy has managed to give more importance to the commercial side of Tottenham than the results on the pitch. The Spurs chairman has failed to address the issues on the pitch and has rather managed to focus on the financial side of things for better revenue. This has made many fans question the direction in which the club is heading.

Legendary striker Joe Cole has also come out and questioned Daniel Levy’s intentions at N17. The former Chelsea striker told Paddy Power,

“Over the last 20 years, there’s never been a point where Tottenham have gone for the Premier League or gone far in a cup competition. They’ve had plenty of managers, but the way they’ve operated in the transfer market hasn’t shown anything.”

Cole added,

“They’ve got a wonderful stadium and fantastic players, but they’re nowhere near competing at the top level, and that’s down to Daniel Levy. Daniel Levy has done a brilliant job from a financial point of view, in terms of running a business and putting profit on the table, but the fans want to see trophies, and unfortunately, if they carry on in the same way, then nothing will change regardless of changing the manager.”

The player-turned-pundit questioned the decisions made by Daniel Levy during his tenure at Tottenham. The North London club have not looked like succeeding on the pitch for quite some time, and it has almost been a decade now since they last competed for the Premier League title. Joe Cole believes that from a financial viewpoint, Levy has done an outstanding job.

But it is the results on the pitch that ultimately matter, and the Spurs chairman has failed to address that time and time again. It looks like one more manager will take the brunt of the bullets for Levy this season. Ange Postecoglou faces tremendous pressure to get positive results, but the problems at the club lie deeper than a few positive results at this point.
