Tottenham could convince Dean Huijsen to join them by appointing Andoni Iraola as their next boss
Ange Postecoglou has had a difficult season at Tottenham Hotspur, and his second year at the club was summed up by a 4-2 away defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
There is plenty going wrong for the Australian tactician, both on and off the pitch, that have hampered any progress being made this campaign. it is fair to say the veteran tactician has been let down by an unprecedented injury situation, but has committed some blunders of his own that haven’t helped.
There have been multiple protests before the games against club chairman Daniel Levy, and calls for a change of ownership have also surfaced again recently. Ange Postecoglou has also had fallouts with the supporters in the stands, especially during away games. He has been jeered by our own fans during the defeat at Chelsea just after the March international break—a prime evidence of Ange’s relationship souring with the supporters.
Amid all the speculation surrounding Postecoglou’s future at White Hart Lane, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has emerged as a prime target to replace the Australian next season. The Basque tactician has done a good job at the Vitality Stadium and deserves to be linked with bigger clubs.

Should Daniel Levy decide to turn to Andoni Iraola, the 42-year-old could bring Dean Huijsen back with him to White Hart Lane. Tottenham have recently spoken with the defender’s representatives ahead of a possible summer move. Thus, if Iraola gets an opportunity to manage the North London club, which in turn would provide Spurs with a massive boost in the race to sign Dean Huijsen.
This is the view of Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham. He feels appointing Iraola as Postecoglou’s replacement is the only way Tottenham will be able to persuade the Bournemouth defender to join their project at N17.
“At the moment, I can’t see Huijsen wanting to join Tottenham,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Bournemouth look as though they will have European football next season, whereas we will have nothing to offer. Therefore, the only way I could see Huijsen joining the club is if we appoint Iraola.
“He is the manager who has allowed Huijsen to play in the Premier League. Therefore, he might want to stick with him for a couple of years. In addition, Tottenham have more money and are a much bigger club than Bournemouth. Therefore, if we appoint Iraola, then we could sign Huijsen.”

We have seen many times that players follow managers from one club to another. Appointing Iraola here could give Spurs an advantage in their pursuit of Huijsen, who has a £50million release clause in his contract.
The Spanish international has been a revelation in the Premier League following his move from Juventus last summer. The youngster’s performances for the Cherries have unsurprisingly gone unnoticed, with several big European clubs vying for his signature. So, Levy would hope that if he goes for Iraola as Ange’s replacement, the Spanish tactician will look to work his magic and convince Huijsen to join his forces at White Hart Lane ahead of other big clubs.
