Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a big blow in their pursuit of Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo
Tottenham Hotspur have started putting plans in place for the summer transfer window, trying to add quality players to their squad in order to enjoy a productive 2025/26 season unlike the ongoing one.
It would not be surprising if the Hotspur Way chiefs make some radical changes to the roster considering the injury problems and lacklustre performances this term. In addition to signing highly-regarded prospects, they must also focus on recruiting proven Premier League players who can make an immediate impact at Spurs.
One player who has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane is Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.
The Ghana international has enjoyed a fantastic season and is one of Bournemouth’s standout performers under Andoni Iraola. He continued his good form on Monday evening by scoring against Fulham in the first minute, which eventually turned out to be the winner.

Given that the Cherries have performed exceptionally well and are fighting to qualify for Europe next term, their players are catching the eye of Premier League clubs and European outfits, and Antoine Semenyo is no different. However, Tottenham could be left frustrated in their pursuit of the 25-year-old.
According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Bournemouth are refusing to lower their demands for Semenyo. As the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United are all vying for the player’s signature, the South Coast outfit are prepared to hold out for £70million.
This is due to the fact that Semenyo has a contract until 2029 (Transfermarkt) without any release clause, putting the Cherries in a great negotiating position. They will not entertain any offers below the £70million mark and are more than happy to keep hold of the African talent, who has netted eight goals and supplied four assists in 31 Premier League appearances this far this season.

The aforementioned report adds that Bournemouth’s hefty demands would put off Tottenham from intensifying their interest in the London-born star, regardless of holding an interest in the player for a prolonged period.
The Cherries sticking to their hefty £70million price tag for Semenyo is a blow for Spurs. They have reasons to value the Ghanaian so highly. The 25-year-old’s soaring stock, coupled with his contractual situation, allows the Andoni Iraola-managed club to ask for that amount amid heavy interest from their Premier League rivals.

In reality, Bournemouth want to hold their ground in front of the rest of the Premier League and try getting as much money as possible by initiating a bidding war, having already known by now that they cannot keep hold of Semenyo for a long time. For now, though, it is a setback in Tottenham’s pursuit of the African ace, as they were set to accelerate their plans to sign the versatile winger.
