Tottenham have reignited their interest in Brentford striker Yoane Wissa ahead of the summer transfer window
Ange Postecoglou’s second season has not gone according to plan, and his immediate future at the club hinges on the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany on Thursday.
Spurs will undergo a big summer rebuild, with several players likely to leave after a disastrous season, and the club will look to spend big in the transfer market. With or without Ange Postecoglou, the Hotspur Way chiefs are planning to go for a forward when the transfer window reopens in June.
Tottenham were interested in signing Brentford striker Yoane Wissa during the January transfer window, but a move did not transpire. With only a few months left for the next transfer window, it looks like they have reignited their interest in the player.

According to a report from The Standard, Brentford are preparing themselves for Yoane Wissa to leave this summer. They feel resigned to offers for the African forward after an eventful January transfer window that saw Nottingham Forest table a £22m bid to sign him. Spurs also held talks with the Bees to ask about details over signing him, before settling for Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich.
One of the most underrated strikers in the Premier League in the last couple of years, Wissa has been a fine player for Thomas Frank’s Brentford. The DR Congo international has enjoyed another strong season at the Gtech Community Stadium, netting 15 goals and supplying two assists in 29 Premier League appearances.
Following Ivan Toney’s departure to Saudi Arabia last summer, Wissa has forged an excellent partnership with Bryan Mbeumo up top under Thomas Frank. With their speed, dynamism, movement and clinical ability in front of goal, the African stars have been proven to be a threat to the Premier League defences.

The aforementioned report adds that Brentford might encourage offers for the 28-year-old this summer, if he shows no intention of signing a new contract. His current terms expire at the end of June 2026 (Transfermarkt), so this offers the West London club the best opportunity to cash him in this summer.

Following the recent update, Tottenham have seemingly revived their interest in Wissa, who is expected to be on the move at the end of the season. The Congolese has enjoyed the most prolific season in his career in the top-flight, and at 28, he deserves to play for a bigger club than Brentford. That makes a move to Spurs ideal, as the France-born attacker may get the chance to play in the Champions League next season if Ange’s side wins the Europa League trophy.
Having proven himself in the Premier League and at the peak of his powers, Wissa would be an excellent potential replacement for Richarlison, who is expected to leave Tottenham amid Saudi Arabia interest.
