Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur players have had a rough Premier League ride this season
Ange Postecoglou was judged by many to have his job on the line when Tottenham Hotspur played Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals in Germany on Thursday night.
It was a game of high magnitude, with potential consequences at stake. Defeat in Germany would not only have ended Spurs’ season but also immediately extinguished the hope of returning to the Champions League next season. Fortunately, our boys turned up on the big night and beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the return leg, thanks to a first-half penalty from Dominic Solanke.
The 2-1 aggregate win over Frankfurt has also eased some pressure off Ange Postecoglou. The Australian tactician has come under increased scrutiny this season amid the club’s dire Premier League performances and results, with his team languishing 15th with just six games left to play.

Despite Tottenham prevailing over the German side and booking a ticket in the Europa League’s semi-finals, questions over Postecoglou’s future remain.
Reliable journalist Duncan Castles has now revealed an ‘interesting’ claims of an alleged angry bust-up between Postecoglou and the Tottenham players. Speaking on The Transfers Podcast, he claimed that the 59-year-old head coach’s relationship with his own players have soured over the past few months due to several factors.
“I’ve been hearing some interesting stuff about Postecoglou’s relationship with the club and with the players over the past few months, and it’s not good,” Duncan Castle revealed on The Transfers Podcast.
“I mean, what I’m hearing out of that camp is that the players have been unimpressed with him for some time over various factors.
“For example, in October, he took a holiday and left the assistants to take training with the players while he took a rest for himself, incidents where he’s been throwing stuff around the dressing room and screaming at the players after bad results.”

It is clear that things have been messy behind the scenes at the club, too. Ange has failed to get the best out of the squad this season. Injuries have definitely played a part in the underwhelming season, but some of the gaffer’s decisions and tactics have been extremely baffling.
The North Londoners have six remaining Premier League games, but remain in danger of their worst-ever season in the top flight. They certainly can salvage that to some extent by tasting success in Europe, and Ange will require every single member of his squad to step up and deliver for that to happen.

If Tottenham overcomes Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals, hope remains that a trophy can be delivered in Postecoglou’s second season. It would also see Spurs enter the Europa League final, which can open up an avenue for a side languishing in the bottom half of the league table to participate in next season’s Champions League.
