Tottenham target Bryan Mbeumo could leave Brentford at the end of the season
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to undergo a big summer rebuild, with several players likely to leave after a disastrous season, and the club will look to spend big in the transfer market.
With or without Ange Postecoglou at the helm, the Lilywhites are planning to go for a forward when the transfer window reopens in June. This is because club-record signing Dominic Solanke, who arrived from Premier League rivals Bournemouth in 2024, has failed to live up to the lofty expectations. Bryan Mbeumo has been a fantastic player for Brentford in recent years. He produced a Man of the Match display against Brighton on Saturday, netting two goals and registering an assist in the 4-2 home win for the Bees.
Following Ivan Toney’s departure to Saudi Arabia last summer, the Cameroonian has forged an excellent partnership with Yoane Wissa up top under Thomas Frank. With their speed, dynamism, movement and clinical ability in front of goal, the African duo have been proven difficult to contain for the Premier League defences.
With rising interest in the player, Brentford are resigned to losing Mbeumo sooner rather than later. According to a report from CaughtOffside, the Bees could accept offers in the region of £50-55m for their star forward this summer. Apart from Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are also in the race for Mbeumo’s signature.
Mbeumo has been making waves for Brentford in recent years, and it is about time he gets an opportunity to represent a “Big Six” Premier League club. Tottenham would richly benefit from having a player like him. The African star, who has drawn comparisons with Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah due to his ability to cut inside from the right flank and find the back of the net, has been consistently scoring and assisting goals in the Premier League.
This makes the 25-year-old a Premier League-proven commodity, someone who is now ready to take the next big step in his career. The Avallon-born forward man does possess guile complemented by the versatility and creativity to become an integral part of the setup at White Hart Lane.
