Fulham boss Marco Silva rubbishes links with Tottenham Hotspur job
Ange Postecoglou is facing sack pressure at Tottenham Hotspur, with his side currently sitting 16th in the Premier League table heading into the final few weeks of the campaign.
The Australian tactician is on borrowed time in North London, despite guiding Spurs to the Europa League semi-finals this season, where they will face Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt across two legs in May. His position came under further scrutiny after Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at home on Monday evening—the club’s 18th defeat of the Premier League campaign.
The Ange Postecoglou-managed side are on their way to record the lowest points total by a Spurs team in the Premier League era. They might also end the 2024/25 season just a place above the relegation zone if the results do not improve quickly.
The players have just not managed to get any sort of rhythm or consistency in their performance levels under Ange. It is always ‘one step forward and three steps back’, and the fans have grown extremely frustrated with the lack of team’s development and ability to string positive results in the league this season.

The Tottenham hierarchy appears to have run out of patience with Ange. Daniel Levy has already started to look for managerial options for next season amid worrying results. Fulham boss Marco Silva is among the names under consideration for the job at White Hart Lane. It looks likely that Big Ange might face the sack as soon as the season’s conclusion.
Marco Silva has earned widespread praise for his exceptional work with Fulham, guiding them to a challenge for European qualification. The Portuguese’s side are on course to finish above Spurs at the end of his fourth season as the Fulham manager, with the Cottagers sat ninth in the table despite a much smaller budget than Spurs.
After Fulham’s 2-1 defeat to rivals Chelsea last weekend, Silva was questioned on the links with the Tottenham job as rumours continue to grow. The 47-year-old brushed off Tottenham links, stating that he is committed to the Cottagers until the end of their campaign.
“My head is at Fulham. We don’t control everything that happens around us. It’s not part of me,” Silva told A Bola (h/t Sport Witness).
“With such important games week after week, our total focus is here and we control what we can, which is preparing the players for the next games.”

Silva, whose contract at Craven Cottage expires at the end of 2025/26 season, is viewed as an incredibly talented coach, and he has dramatically rebuilt his reputation at Fulham since getting sacked by Everton in December 2019. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will have admired the way the Lisbon-born tactician has built a team capable of competing without breaking the bank—a model he still applies at N17.
Should Levy decide to part ways with Postecoglou at the end of the season, Silva would be a smart fit to replace the Australian at Spurs’ helm.
