Aston Villa eyeing summer move for Tottenham star with one foot out of N-17

Yves Bissouma is surplus to requirements for Tottenham Hotspur amidst Aston Villa interest
Tottenham Hotspur were forced to dip into the January transfer window following an injury crisis. They signed goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, defender Kevin Danso, and forward Mathys Tel.
The midfield department was neglected by the Lilywhites in the past transfer window, and one would thus expect reinforcements in the area of the pitch to be prioritised by the club before the new campaign commences. Over recent weeks, Spurs have been looking to offload Yves Bissouma as he has been deemed surplus to requirements at the club.
Yves Bissouma is on course to enter the final year of his contract. The 28-year-old has struggled to cement a place in the Tottenham XI since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2022. During his time at Brighton, he became a coveted commodity due to his all-action style of play under Graham Potter, and when the North Londoners won the race for his signature three years ago in a deal worth £25m plus add-ons, it was viewed as a huge bargain.

Things haven’t gone as per plan for the Mali international, whose stock has seemingly plummeted after inconsistent performances this season at N17. It is revealed that Bissouma is now attracting plenty of interest from the Saudi Pro League ahead of the summer, while clubs from Italy and Spain are also keeping tabs.
However, his Premier League career may not be just over yet. According to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Aston Villa are interested in signing Bissouma, with Tottenham ‘happy to move forward with a deal’ this summer.
Unai Emery has done a fantastic job at Aston Villa, giving the team an identity, bringing a spirit, and making the team competitive in both domestic and European competitions. He has revived the careers of many players, especially loanees such as Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, while improving the squad overall.

So, the Spanish tactician could do the same thing with Bissouma as well. The Villans are perhaps looking for more bite and experience in the middle of the park, and the Spurs man could provide that if used in the right system.

The African will enter the final year of his contract, which means Villa could take advantage of the situation and get him on a cut-price deal this summer. Plus, Emery’s side are in a good position to qualify for Europe again, which should be tempting for the central midfielder rather than moving to Saudi Arabia at the peak of his powers.
That said, the Spurs bosses must now hope Villa come up with a decent offer to sign Bissouma.
