Tottenham Hotspur are set to face stiff competition from Newcastle United for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi
The summer transfer window is only a couple of months away, and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to enter the market to strengthen their squad.
During the January transfer window, the Lilywhites were forced to make a few signings owing to an injury crisis. They wanted a centre-back to cover for the injured first-choice pairing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and got one in Kevin Danso, who arrived on loan from RC Lens with an obligation to buy.
But before moving for Danso, Spurs were interested in signing Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi. In fact, they had made a shock £70million bid for the defender, which was quickly snubbed by the Eagles as they did not want to sell one of their prized assets midway through the season.

Marc Guehi is on course to enter the final year of his contract this summer, having rejected multiple new contract offers from his current employers. Crystal Palace now feel resigned to losing the England international at the end of the season, perhaps at a cut-price deal. They are set to embrace approaches and offers from Premier League rivals and abroad clubs for their captain, who has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the top flight in recent years.
Tottenham are keen on Guehi but they are set to face stiff competition from Newcastle United. According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is on a personal mission to get a deal for the Palace star over the line this time around, having seen their four bids worth up to £65million turned down last year.
The Toon Army have refused to rule out the possibility of returning to the negotiating table for the 24-year-old in the coming months. Guehi could even stay at Selhurst Park for another season and leave on a free transfer in 2026 if Palace do not receive an offer that meets their valuation. However, the South Londoners will be keen to cash him in and get a decent fee to reinvest in improving their squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

Newcastle reviving their interest in Guehi is a blow for Spurs. Eddie Howe has built a dynamic squad at St James’ Park around young, exciting talents in the last couple of years, which may prove to be enticing for Guehi, particularly if there will also be the opportunity to compete in the Champions League next season. The Ivory Coast-born star is a Premier League-proven commodity and would undoubtedly enhance both Newcastle and Spurs’ defensive ranks.
And with the Lilywhites presently in disarray, owing to their worst-ever top-flight campaign and Ange Postecoglou’s future, and the Magpies determined to seal the deal for Guehi this year, Daniel Levy faces a mammoth task to convince the Eagles’ defensive wall that our club’s project is the right destination for the next big step of his career.
