James Maddison backs Ange Postecoglou to turn the fortunes around at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou faces a decisive week as his side takes on Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals. It is fair to say that the Lilywhites need to progress through to the final of the competition for Big Ange to remain at the helm till the end of the season. Spurs have struggled to grind out positive results in the Premier League, but that has not affected their performances in Europe.
The North London club have managed to exceed all expectations and are within touching distance of ending the 17-year wait for a major trophy. Irrespective of where Spurs sit on the Premier League table, winning the Europa League would be a huge achievement by Ange’s men. It would also ensure the club’s participation in the Champions League next season.

This season has not gone according to plan for the ex-Celtic boss. He is under tremendous pressure to end the season on a high. The only thing that has kept Ange Postecoglou at the helm is the club’s chances of winning the Europa League this season. However, the 59-year-old might still get sacked if Spurs end up winning the competition.
Tottenham star James Maddison backs Ange Postecoglou
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou’s future at N17 has generated a lot of headlines in recent months. With Daniel Levy already on the hunt to sign a managerial replacement for next season, Big Ange has come under pressure to bring immediate success to the club. There have also been reports of Ange suggesting a ‘mole’ in the dressing room. That has certainly not helped the cause for the Australian manager.
However, amidst all the scrutiny, James Maddison has rallied a message of support for his manager. The England international said in his pre-match presser (as transcribed by Football.london),
“We’re behind the manager 100%. I think he’s a great man. He’s the first person to tell you, I’ve heard it myself, that we’ve been poor in the league. We’ve been great in Europe but it’s been unacceptable in the league. He’s my manager, my gaffer and I respect him. We can still have a very successful season.”
The Spurs No.10 has insisted that the players believe in Ange Postecoglou and are fully backing the Australian to turn the tide around at the club. Maddison also acknowledged the poor results in the Premier League and insisted that it is unacceptable that the club is in the bottom half of the table. However, the 28-year-old has urged fans to remain positive as the Lilywhites can still have a successful season.

Fans have felt frustrated with how the season has gone so far. However, if Ange’s men manage to win the Europa League this season, then all will be forgotten. The ex-Celtic manager will etch his name in the club’s history books. Daniel levy has a tough decision to make in the summer if Spurs do end up winning silverware this season. Will they still stich with Ange or not? Only time will tell.
