Marco Silva might swap Fulham for Tottenham in the summer
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou finds himself under immense pressure at N17. With 19 Premier League defeats this season, the Australian’s position is hanging by a thread, and the Europa League remains his only realistic chance of salvaging the campaign. Spurs have done well to reach the semi-finals of the competition, offering a glimmer of hope that they could finally bring an end to their 17-year trophy drought.
However, the domestic campaign has been nothing short of disastrous. Tottenham are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table and could realistically finish just above the relegation zone. For everyone associated with the North London club, it’s been a season to forget.

Ange Postecoglou appears increasingly likely to depart Tottenham this summer. Chairman Daniel Levy has already begun the search for a new manager and is believed to have drawn up a shortlist of potential successors to the former Celtic boss. However, all hope is not lost for Postecoglou. Should he manage to guide Spurs to Europa League glory and end the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy, he could yet turn the tide and secure his position at the helm.
Fulham boss Marco Silva wants to join Tottenham
Tottenham have been linked with several managerial candidates in recent months as speculation around Ange Postecoglou’s future intensifies. Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzić, and Fulham’s Marco Silva are all reportedly on Daniel Levy’s radar as potential replacements. With the season nearing its conclusion and planning for the next campaign already underway, Levy will need to move swiftly if he hopes to secure one of his preferred targets before rival clubs enter the fray.
Now, ex-Spurs scout Mick Brown believes that Fulham manager Marco Silva wants to join Tottenham. Brown told Football Insider,
“Marco Silva wants the Tottenham job. No matter what we say, Tottenham is a very lucrative job and it’s one any manager would be interested in. They’re a big club, regardless of how well they’re doing on the pitch. Silva has done a very good job with Fulham, when you look at the stature of the club and the finances he has available to him.”

The ex-scout added,
“But I get the feeling he has taken them as far as they can go by challenging for Europe. If they don’t get into Europe, and he’s offered the job, I have no doubt he’ll take it. It’s just about whether Spurs feel he is the right man for the job at the moment, because there are a lot of contenders and people they’ll be looking at.”
Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown has hinted that Marco Silva would be open to taking the Tottenham job if it was offered to him. Brown praised Silva for the impressive work he’s done at Craven Cottage, guiding Fulham to mid-table stability and pushing the club’s limits in the race for European football. However, he believes Silva may have hit the ceiling with Fulham and would likely see Spurs as a step up. While several names are in the frame to replace Ange Postecoglou, Brown is confident that Silva would accept the challenge at N17 if Daniel Levy came calling.
Tottenham’s managerial hunt has hit an early obstacle with Andoni Iraola distancing himself from a move to North London. The Bournemouth boss is committed to continuing his project at the Vitality Stadium, leaving Spurs to reassess their shortlist. With Marco Silva now emerging as one of the more realistic targets, the pressure is mounting on Daniel Levy to move swiftly.

Silva’s stock is high, and with Fulham potentially nearing their competitive limit, the timing may be right for both parties. However, any approach hinges on resolving Ange Postecoglou’s uncertain future. The clock is ticking, and fans will be hoping the club makes a decisive call that sets the tone for a more stable and ambitious 2025/26 campaign.
Any move to Spurs is unlikely to be alone as SIlva in all likelihood will be accompanied by João Pedro Sousa who has been a long-time collaborator, serving as his assistant coach at multiple clubs. Their partnership began during their playing days at Trofense and has continued throughout Silva’s managerial career, including stints at Estoril, Sporting CP, Olympiacos, Hull City, Watford, and Everton. He is known for leading training sessions and is considered a vital part of Silva’s coaching team.
