Tottenham emerge favorites to sign impressive Premier League manager

Tottenham want Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner to takeover the reigns at N17

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is under tremendous pressure to turn the fortunes around at N17. The Lilywhites have endured a disastrous campaign and they are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table. There is a possibility that Ange’s men finish the season just a place above the relegation zone if the results do not improve.

However, not all is doom and gloom at N17. Spurs are withing touching distance of winning the Europa League and end the long-standing trophy drought at the club. The North London club has one foot in the finals of the competition after enjoying a comprehensive win against Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of the semi-finals. The Lilywhites just need to defend a two-goal advantage in the return leg in Norway to ensure their place in the final.

The Premier League results, on the other hand, have been a clear contrast. It is now 19 league defeats for Spurs this season and Ange’s men are well on their way to record the club’s lowest ever points total in a single Premier League season. Fans have also grown tired of the mediocre performances on the pitch and regular protests have been held to showcase their frustrations.

Tottenham lead the race to land Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner

It looks like Ange Postecoglou has run his race at N17. The ex-Celtic boss is on the verge of getting sacked by Tottenham once the season ends. The Europa League campaign was acting as a saving grace for Big Ange but there is a growing feeling that it might not be enough for the Australian to save himself from facing the inevitable.

Daniel Levy has already identified a few managerial replacements if Ange Postecoglou is sacked by the Lilywhites. Spurs have held a long-standing interest in Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner and are keen on bringing him to N17 in the summer. The Lilywhites see Glasner as the perfect manager to head a rebuild and make Spurs a competitive team again.

The Austrian has done a wonderful job at Selhurst Park and led the Eagles to the FA Cup Final this season. As per BILD (via Sport Witness), RB Leipzig are also interested in landing the 50-year-old as they look to get back on track after sacking Marco Rose last month. However, Spurs are still deemed to be the favourites as Oliver Glasner prefers to stay in England and continue his managerial journey.

What next for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

Ange Postecoglou still has a chance of ending the season on a high and lead the club to their first ever major trophy in 17 years. The Lilywhites will also ensure Champions League qualification if they manage to win the Europa League. The 59-year-old has come under constant scrutiny in recent months, but all will be forgiven if he helps Spurs reach the promise land.

The Australian is staring at the barrel of the gun at N17, but Big Ange must make sure that he gives the fans something to cheer about in the last parts of the season. The 59-year-old still has the time to etch his name in the history books of the club. However, it will still not be enough to save his job at the North London club.

Sacking Ange Postecoglou seems inevitable. It is a matter of when, not why?
