Burnley star linked with a move to “favourite club” Tottenham

Tottenham look to add Burnley star Maxime Esteve to their ranks
It is not often that Tottenham are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League during the business end of the season. The Lilywhites are 16th in the league table and face the prospect of ending the campaign just a place above the relegation zone. This just shows the downward spiral the club are heading into under Ange Postecoglou as the season goes on. The Australian manager has not been helped with the injury crisis at the club either.
Spurs have missed a lot of their key players during crucial parts of their season. Star defender Cristian Romero was ruled out with a long-term injury just when Tottenham had started to gather momentum earlier in the campaign. His defensive partner Micky van de Ven was also forced to be on the sidelines for a few months, which disrupted Big Ange’s plans at N17.

Now, the pair have returned to full fitness just in time for the Lilywhites. However, backup defender Radu Dragusin is expected to be out for a few months after rupturing his ACL in February. Daniel Levy needs to bring in defensive reinforcements in the summer to avoid something like this to happen again and add depth in the defence.
Burnley star Maxime Esteve aiming for Tottenham move
Burnley defender Maxime Esteve has outlined his desire to play for the top six club in the Premier League. The 22-year-old has spoken about his love towards Tottenham and aims to prove his worth to facilitate a move to N17 soon. This may come at a good time for the Lilywhites as Cristian Romero is on the verge of heading for an exit in the summer. The Argentina international admitted recently about his desire to play in Spain.
As per GIVEMESPORT, Spurs had launched a transfer bid to sign Maxime Esteve in January. However, the Clarets rejected an approach as they were fighting hard to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League. But now that the objective is accomplished, the Lilywhites could go again for the Frenchman.
Tottenham are not the only ones interested in signing the Burnley centre-back. GMS also reports that Everton and West Ham United are also looking to sign the defender as they look to bolster their squad for next season. The Lilywhites still have the upper hand though, as Esteve clearly prefers a move to a top six Premier League club instead.

The Burnley defender would fit in perfectly at N17. He would be a perfect replacement for the outgoing Cristian Romero. Esteve is brilliant with the ball on his feet. The 22-year-old can carry the ball up the field and create space to find new passing angles for his teammates. The Frenchman also thrives in quick transitions and draws an opposition press to play a long ball over the top. These attributes perfectly suit Ange Postecoglou’s setup and he would thrive in North London.
