Italian tactician who drew Klopp and Guardiola’s admiration linked with Tottenham job

Tottenham want to bring in Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi in the summer
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a fresh start as they look to build a new project under a potential managerial change. Despite possessing a squad brimming with talent, the Lilywhites find themselves languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table, a position that falls far short of the club’s ambitions.
Ange Postecoglou has guided Spurs to the Europa League final this season, but inconsistent domestic form has prompted chairman Daniel Levy to explore other managerial options. Among the high-profile names linked to the role is Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, who has been identified as a strong candidate to take the helm at N17.
However, recent reports indicate that the Spaniard has decided to reject Tottenham’s advances, opting instead to extend his stay at the Vitality Stadium. With Iraola seemingly out of the picture, Spurs may now have to turn their attention to other targets as they look to reshape their future under new leadership.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is also linked with a move to N17 in the summer. The Austrian has done a tremendous job at Selhurst Park and he has led the Eagles to the FA Cup Final this season. But Spurs face competition for Glasner’s signature as RB Leipzig are also interested in his services.
Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi in the race for Tottenham job
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is staring at the barrel of a gun at N17. The Australian is on the verge of ending the club’s trophy drought this season, but that has still not kept his job safe in North London. Big Ange still has the chance of ending the season on a high and keeping his promise of winning a trophy in his second season at the club.

But Daniel Levy is still working hard to find a potential managerial replacement as Ange Postecoglou is facing the sack. As per Sky Sports Italia, Spurs have now identified Olympique Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi as the man to replace Big Ange at the helm next season. The Lilywhites have paid close attention to the Italian’s progress in Ligue 1 and are keen on bringing him to North London.
However, Tottenham face competition for the former Brighton manager’s signature. The report also suggests that AC Milan and AS Roma are interested in hiring the 45-year-old tactician. De Zerbi prefers a move to the Premier League though as he wants to prove his critics wrong in England.

This means that Ange Postecoglou does not have enough time to save his job at Tottenham. The 59-year-old can still end the season on a high and give the fans a lasting memory of the club winning silverware again after 17 years. His side takes on Manchester United in the Europa League finals and Big Ange will hope that the players step up for occasion.
De Zerbi has impressed both Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, both of who struggled at time against a modest Brighton side under his guidance. De Zerbi might be a loose cannon but his tactical nous is undeniable. Whether Tottenham seem it prudent to look the other way if he is the one to turn our fortunes around remains to be seen.
