Europa League final could prove to be Tottenham star’s last game in white

Tottenham star Cristian Romero is planning to push to join Atletico Madrid in the summer after Europa League final
Ange Postecoglou has brought Tottenham Hotspur to within touching distance of a first major trophy in 17 long years.
A poor Premier League campaign has seen the Lilywhites languishing in the bottom half of the table for several months, which has cast doubt over Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future at the club. However, the Australian tactician, who claimed earlier this campaign that he wins things in his second season at a club, has guided Spurs to the UEFA Europa League final.
The North Londoners were excellent across the two legs of Europa League semi-final, beating Bodo/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate. They will now face Manchester United in the showpiece event at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao on May 21. And it is believed that a key Tottenham player is set to make a decision over his future after the final.

According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Cristian Romero is likely to seek an exit from Spurs after the Europa League final in Spain. He is set to push to join Atletico Madrid, regardless of whether the Lilywhites win the European trophy, as the defender views a switch to the La Liga side as the ideal next move at this point of his career.
Cristian Romero has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid since the last couple of months. The Spanish side have made the 27-year-old their primary defensive target for the summer transfer window. In the wake of their search for a new centre-back, Atletico boss Diego Simeone has also held private talks with the Argentina international over a possible move to the Wanda Metropolitano.
In April, the 2022 World Cup winner clearly hinted towards a summer exit from Tottenham. Romero decided earlier this year that he wants to leave N17 for greener pastures if the right offer comes in for him. The defender is not poised to change his stance regardless of whether Ange’s side end their lengthy wait for silverware, the aforementioned report adds.

This very well appears to be Romero’s last season in a Tottenham shirt. There is also acceptance within the club that the summer transfer window would be the right time to sell the Argentinean international, as he enters the final two years of his contract. Interestingly, Spurs could accept a £50m bid for Romero, whose ambitions lie in competing regularly in the Champions League and winning trophies.

As Romero does not wants to be a part of the club’s project, Tottenham must sell him this summer. The N17 bosses have also started scouring the market for Romero’s potential replacement, with Lazio’s Mario Gila on the club’s radar.
