“Won’t save him”- Postecogolou backed to bite the dust even if he fulfills Tottenham prophecy

Famous English broadcaster feels Europa League glory will not be enough for Ange Postecoglou to keep his job at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the UEFA Europa League final on Thursday night, sealing a 2-0 win away to Bodo/Glimt to complete a fantastic 5-1 aggregate victory.

Spurs were already in a commanding position after a 3-1 win in the first leg at home, and they sealed a memorable deal on a tricky plastic surface in Norway thanks to second-half goals from Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro. This ensured the club’s entry in a first European final since 2019, where the Lilywhites lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League’s showpiece event.

Micky van de Ven expressed his desire to reward Tottenham fans with “something special”, with all players and fans daring to dream. Indeed, Ange Postecoglou and Co. are now just one step away from continental glory. Also, the Australian tactician is only one game away from keeping his promise of delivering a trophy in his second season at clubs.

Regardless of whatever happens in the Europa League final against Manchester United in Bilbao, Ange Postecoglou is expected to be sacked at the end of the season.

And famous broadcaster Richard Key has made his feeling clear on X about Big Ange clear after Tottenham sealed a spot in the Europa League final. The English sports presenter congratulated the Spurs boss, admitting that he could actually back his words of winning a trophy in his second season.

However, Keys is still of the view that Daniel Levy will sack the 59-year-old at the end of the campaign regardless of what happens at San Mames in Bilbao.

“And maybe Ange is going to be proved right – he always wins something in his 2nd season? It won’t save him though,” Keys wrote on his X account.

Spurs have had a woeful domestic campaign and no one associated with the club can deny it. The Lilywhites failing to make any kind of progress in the last few months and climb the table further exposes the lacunas in Ange’s tactics, style of play and squad depth.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Ange is overseeing the club’s worst-ever finish in the top flight, and while injury issues should be considered, there is no justification to end the season perhaps only a couple of spots above the relegation zone. It is worth noting that Tottenham have lost 19 of their 35 Premier League games, which is a terrible record for any manager of a so-called ‘Big Six’ club.

Thus, winning the Europa League may rightly not be enough for Big Ange to keep his job at N17 beyond this campaign.
