Ange Postecoglou is likely to head for exit doors at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has the chance to create history at N17. The Australian has led the North London club to the Europa League final after a comprehensive 5-1 win (on aggregate) against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt. The Lilywhites have the chance to clinch a European trophy after 41 years, as well as, end their 17-year long trophy drought.

Spurs have exceeded all expectations in Europe and have booked a flight to Bilbao as they will take on Manchester United for the Europa League trophy. However, the domestic campaign has been a disaster for Ange Postecoglou’s men. They sit 16th in the Premier League table and face the possibility of finishing the season just a place above the relegation zone if results do not improve.

It is now 19 league defeats for Big Ange and the pressure is mounting on the ex-Celtic boss, despite the European achievement this season. The 59-year-old is still facing scrutiny from the fans for the lack of effort and hunger in the Premier League. Spurs have written off the domestic campaign and it is clear to see that the club’s focus has shifted towards the Europa League.

Ex-scout believes Ange Postecoglou will not be at Tottenham next season

Daniel Levy has already started looking at managerial replacements for next season. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, and Fulham coach Marco Silva are all on the shortlist to replace Ange Postecoglou. There is a possibility that the Australian will get sacked even if he manages to win the Europa League this season.

Now, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King also believes that Tottenham will find a way to relieve Big Ange from his duties. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,

“He’s still got to go and win this final, which Tottenham are more than capable of doing. However, according to all the reports and people I’ve spoken to, it doesn’t look as though this is going to save him. I think it is now about trying to climb the league, win the Europa League, and then I think it will be goodbye to Postecoglou.”

Tottenham set for a 'mutual agreement' with Ange Postecoglou to part ways in the summer.

The former scout added,

“He’s an honest manager, and I quite like the way he deals with the press; he speaks his mind, he says it as it is. However, I don’t think winning the Europa League will be enough to save him. I think it will be reported as a mutual agreement to part ways in the press release, not a sacking.”

Bryan King suggests that winning the Europa League will not be enough for Ange Postecoglou to save his job at N17. The ex-Spurs scout also insists that Big Ange is a good manager and speaks his mind, but the Lilywhites will part ways with him once the season ends. King also suggested that Tottenham would report the sacking as ‘mutual agreement’ in the press release.

Ange Postecoglou cannot focus on his future right now as the 59-year-old has the chance to create history at N17. The ex-Celtic boss has the chance to rewrite history and end the club’s long-standing trophy drought. Winning the Europa League would cement Ange’s place in the club’s history books and the Australian would be able to leave the club with his head held high.
