Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke has hit a purple patch at the right time for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has finally started finding the back of the net regularly this season. The England international has endured a ‘stop-start’ first campaign for the Lilywhites after arriving from Bournemouth last summer. But the prolific striker is finally showing why Daniel Levy paid the big bucks for him and got him to N17.

The North London club has struggled in the attacking front this season. Many key players have not managed to make an impact regularly, and that has affected the club’s performances and results in the Premier League. However, Tottenham fans would be happy to notice that Solanke is growing in confidence and he has helped the team reach the Europa League final this season.

The 27-year-old has scored crucial goals in recent weeks. It looks like the Spurs fans are seeing the best version of the England international as he continues his purple patch under Ange Postecoglou. His most recent goal involvement came against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday in the return leg of the Europa League semi-final. The Spurs striker managed to find the back of the net and ensured that the Lilywhites qualified for their first European final in six years.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou praises Dominic Solanke

Ange Postecoglou’s men are within touching distance of winning the Europa League and ending the club’s 17-year long wait for a trophy. A lot of the credit should go to Dominic Solanke as he has racked up three goals for the Lilywhites during the knockout phases of the competition.

Now, even Ange Postecoglou has taken the time to praise the prolific striker after good performances in recent weeks. Big Ange said in his presser (as transcribed by Football.london),

“He missed a lot of football, Dom. He is the kind of guy who when he has been playing for us he just works his socks off but he has had an interrupted season as well. He is crucial to us. No mistake it’s not just the goals he scored. He adds so much to our game in terms of how hard he works for the team with and without the ball but he is getting goals at crucial stages.”

Ange Postecoglou suggested that Dominic Solanke has missed a lot of games through injury this season. But the Spurs manager added that the prolific striker has always worked hard whenever he has played for the Lilywhites. Big Ange reiterated that the 27-year-old is an important player and adds a lot to how the team plays with and without the ball. The ex-Celtic boss also acknowledged Solanke’s contributions in front of goal during some crucial games in recent weeks.

The Tottenham fans will now hope that Solanke continues his goal-scoring form as Ange’s men take on Manchester United in ten days’ time. Winning the competition would mean that Spurs would clinch their first European trophy in 41 years. It would also mean that the Lilywhites would qualify for Champions League football next season.
