“We are going to need you”-Ange Postecoglou highlights under-pressure Tottenham star’s importance

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is likely to be sold in the summer
Yves Bissouma has endured a ‘stop-start’ campaign for Tottenham this season. The Mali international has fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou and lost his place in the starting eleven. The holding midfielder arrived at N17 with high hopes after registering a successful stint at Brighton. But it has just not worked out for the 28-year-old and it is certain that he will be sold in the summer.
The Spurs No.8 is heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa in the summer. This comes after Bissouma was placed on the transfer market by Tottenham. The Mali international’s contract expires next summer, so Spurs will do everything they can to sell the 28-year-old once the transfer window opens.

Daniel Levy needs to cash in on underperforming players once the season ends. That is the only way Spurs will be able to compete with their rivals and close the gap on them. So, it is believed that Yves Bissouma is one of many players that will be on the chopping list for the Lilywhites.
Ange Postecoglou praises Tottenham outcast Yves Bissouma
Tottenham are on the verge of ending their long-standing trophy drought this season. Ange Postecoglou’s men have reached the Europa League final after beating Bodo/Glimt in the semis. The Lilywhites registered a comfortable win in Norway to reach the finals, and it is fair to say that many players played their best game in a Spurs shirt.
However, Ange Postecoglou took the time out to single out Yves Bissouma’s contribution to the team during the historic win. The Spurs manager said in his presser (as transcribed by Football.london),
“I spoke to him about a month ago. He was in and out of the team. I just had a feeling in my gut. I said: ‘Biss, we are going to need you at the crucial time. I don’t know when that is going to be but we are going to need you and if we get the best Biss we can do something special.’ He has delivered.”
Big Ange added,
“Through that time he never put his head down and complained. He knew that he could be doing better and he wanted to push on. So I’m really proud of him and the way he has handled everything this year.”
Ange Postecoglou acknowledged Yves Bissouma’s brilliant performance against Bodo/Glimt. The Spurs manager said that Bissouma was ready for his chance and delivered when the team needed it the most. Big Ange also insisted that the Mali international never complained when he was not playing and was always training hard to be ready.
This is a big credit to Yves Bissouma for being ready and deliver a strong performance in the club’s biggest game of the season. The Mali international would not have started against Bodo/Glimt if it was not for Lucas Bergvall’s injury. But it was his determination that gave him the opportunity to get selected in the starting eleven. And his sheer hard-work came into fruition for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Now, the 28-year-old still has one more game to go and he will hope that he performs in the same way against a tougher opposition. Tottenham take on Manchester United in the Europa League final. The Lilywhites have already beaten the Red Devils thrice this season, so fans will hope that history repeats itself and the 17-year long wait for a trophy is over.
