Tottenham suffered their 20th defeat of the Premier League season at the hands of Crystal Palace on Sunday
Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 2-0 by London rivals Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon. It was their 20th defeat of the Premier League season.
The loss saw the Lilywhites drop to 17th in the table, with only relegated trio Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton below them with two games to go. 20 defeats are the most the North London club has suffered during a single Premier League season in history, which is why there is every possibility of Ange Postecoglou being sacked at the end of the season even if he guides the team to the Europa League trophy.
It was another disappointing day in the office for Ange Postecoglou and Co, leaving them on 38 from 36 games. They cannot finish above 13th spot, as the Australian tactician looks to end the domestic campaign with a whimper.

Postecoglou faced the media after the game on Sunday. When asked to reflect on the defeat to the Eagles, he told Football London:
“We weren’t anywhere near the level we needed to be today. It’s not helpful when you lose another player, it’s the fine line we’re trying to navigate at the moment. That aside, it was a disappointing performance and nowhere near the level it should be.”
Spurs’ poor derby display in front of their loyal fans might be down to the fact that Ange made as many as eight changes to the side that defeated Bodo/Glimt 2-0 in Norway in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final on Thursday evening. To compound to Ange’s misery, star midfielder Dejan Kulusevski was forced off inside 15 minutes into the game with a knock.

Despite guiding the team to a European final, the 59-year-old’s future remains masked in uncertainty. The Europa League now stands as his only shot at redemption, a chance to finally bring a trophy back to N17 after years of misery and frustration.

Ange will get sacked and replaced before the new campaign begins, but truth be told, no managerial change alone will be sufficient to get the club out of this rot. The issues run far deeper than the manager, starting from top. That said, however, the Greek-Aussie boss’ priority lies in winning the Europa League, and he must do everything possible to help his team beat Manchester United in the final in Bilbao on May 21.
