Tottenham Hotspur fall behind Manchester United in the race to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo
Tottenham Hotspur have started putting plans in place to rebuild the squad during the forthcoming summer transfer window.
The Spurs are expected to bolster the forward unit in the summer, as Timo Werner’s loan spell comes to an end, while there is speculation surrounding the future of Richarlison. Club legend Son Heung-min could be offloaded as well as part of the squad rebuild, with the club bosses placing him on the chopping block.
Questions have been raised about Ange Postecoglou’s ability to get a tune out of the squad at his disposal. Not only has the defensive unit faltered, the Lilywhites’ attackers have failed to deliver the goods consistently. Now, going into the summer transfer window, the North Londoners are poised for a battle to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.

Tottenham are believed to be long-term admirers of Antoine Semenyo and are willing to bring him to N17 for next season. However, it is worth noting that Bournemouth have set a high price tag for the 25-year-old and are not willing to lose him easily. Interestingly, Spurs are ready to pay €60 million to sign the Ghana international, as the club bosses feel his profile perfectly fits at the club.
Semenyo has been in fantastic form so far this season with nine Premier League goals and five assists in 35 appearances, as Bournemouth hopes to consolidate their position in the top half of the table. This has put several top Premier League outfits on red alert, with the Cherries not looking like they’d be able to hold him for long.
According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Manchester United have jumped ahead of clubs to sign Semenyo from Bournemouth. They are now in a pole position to land the versatile African talent, as Ruben Amorim eyes a squad rebuild after a disastrous campaign at Old Trafford.

A left-winger by trade, the Bournemouth star can play on the opposite side and through the middle as a No.9. He combines his pace, flair, directness, strength and dribbling ability to cause all kinds of problems to the defenders. A diligent worker off the ball too, Semenyo is a manager’s dream who wants his team to play attacking football, press high up the pitch and give it all.
The aforementioned report adds Man United’s chances of landing Semenyo will be boosted if they win the Europa League and subsequently qualify for the Champions League next term.

Spurs face United in what is expected to be a mouthwatering Europa League final in Bilbao next week. This gives Ange’s side a chance to not only win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League, but also strike a hammer blow to the Red Devils’ pursuit of Semenyo. It’d be great if we can lift the Europa League trophy and bolster our hopes of landing the Bournemouth ace.
