Tottenham star Mathys Tel was seen receiving treatment after full-time whistle in Crystal Palace defeat
The Lilywhites are rock bottom of the domestic season, which has seen them languishing in 17th place and having no domestic trophies to show for their efforts. After losing 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace, there were concerns around injuries after the first half withdrawal of Dejan Kulusevski who was forced to play as a striker in Postecoglou’s line-up. Postecoglou must have been as mad annoyed to see Kulusevski forced off, but he certainly wasn’t the only Spurs player needing treatment in the same game.

The defeat was made worse by Dejan Kulusevski being forced off with an injury, and another of Ange Postecoglou’s players also required treatment. Mathys Tel was pictured via X recieveing treatment after full-time, hopefully for a minor knock.
With just nine days remaining until the Europa League final against Manchester United, Postecoglou will be anxiously monitoring the fitness of the injured duo. Mathys Tel appeared to be in discomfort after the final whistle against Crystal Palace, receiving medical attention. Although the Frenchman completed 90 minutes against The Eagles, his post-match discomfort will surely be a concern for Postecoglou.
The Frenchman has managed to impress the fans
Since his transfer from Bayern in the last winter window, Mathys Tel has quickly become a standout player for Tottenham, at times even outshining the legendary Heung-min Son. His impressive performances have made him the expected first summer signing for Spurs, with the club hoping to negotiate a lower fee than the £45m buy option. While his stats—four goal contributions in 18 matches—may not jump off the page, the eye test tells a different story.
In an effort to rest key players ahead of the major European final next week, Postecoglou made eight changes to the squad that defeated Bodo/Glimt. With James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall already unavailable, losing more players to injury would be a significant setback for the Australian manager.

Tottenham must tread carefully to avoid any further injury setbacks ahead of the Europa League final. With Postecoglou yet to comment, Tel’s issue likely amounts to nothing more than slight discomfort. Still, as the squad prepares for its biggest night in 17 years, resting key players should be the priority. Managing fitness could be the difference between glory and heartbreak. Come on you Spurs!
