“Change the narrative”- Tottenham veteran aiming for one last dance as UEL final beckons

Tottenham defender Ben Davies is all set for a summer exit from N17
Tottenham defender Ben Davies has gone through all the ups and downs at N17. The Welshman is the longest serving player at the club currently. It is fair to say that the 32-year-old has seen it all for the Lilywhites. The versatile player was also an instrumental part of Maurico Pochettino’s team, when Tottenham managed to reach the Champions League final in 2019.
However, in recent years, Davies has fallen down the pecking order at N17 and he is now considered as a reliable backup option under Ange Postecoglou. The Wales international has still not tasted success while playing for the club. After making 356 appearances for Spurs and approaching 11 years at the club, the defender has the chance of winning his first trophy at N17 this season.

The North London club has reached the Europa League final and they take on Manchester United for the trophy. The Lilywhites are within touching distance of ending their trophy drought. Fans will also be confident ahead of the game as Spurs have already beaten Man United thrice this season in all competitions.
Tottenham defender Ben Davies wants UEL glory
Tottenham defender Ben Davies’ exit from N17 is edging closer as the season approaches its last stages. The Welshman’s contract expires in the summer and Spurs have not yet offered a contract extension. However, the 32-year-old will look to end his career at the North London club on a high and win his first major trophy with the Lilywhites.
The Spurs stalwart aims to lift the Europa League trophy before he aims for pastures new in the summer. Speaking to the Tottenham Hotspur Website, Ben Davies said,
“It would be incredible, something… having been involved in a lot of European competitions, you realise how hard it is. To get over the line this time, it would mean so much. The teams we’ve had, the players we’ve had, we’ve all dreamt of this but just fallen short.”

The Welshman added,
“Now we have the chance to do something special, to change the narrative, and we’re all hoping we can do that. It’s been really tough at times and, sometimes, that can really bring you together. I’m hoping for one more time it will be a big high.”
Ben Davies suggests that there have been a lot of near misses in the past in terms of winning a trophy. The 32-year-old adds that winning the Europa League would mean a lot as it is not an easy feat to achieve. Davies also points out that Spurs have endured a tough season, so winning a trophy at the end of it will be a massive boost for the club. It would also be something that could bring everyone involved with the club together.

Like Davies, club captain Heung-Min Son is also hoping to win a first major trophy at N17. The South Korea international has been at the club since 2015 and it is fair to say that he has seen a lot of near misses during his time at Spurs. Winning the Europa League would be the perfect send-off for Ben Davies and it is the least that the Tottenham stalwart deserves.
