“Too tough for him”- Ex-PL manager slams Tottenham captain after tough season

Tottenham captain Heung-Min Son has the chance of ending his trophy drought at N17 this season
Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-Min Son has endured a ‘stop-start’ campaign at N17. The South Korea international has seen all the ups and downs during his ten-year stay at the club. From winning the Puskas award for his brilliant solo goal against Burnley, to just missing out on winning the Champions League after falling short in the final. The Spurs No.7 has seen it all.
Now, the 32-year-old finally has the chance of winning his first ever trophy with the North London club. Ange Postecoglou’s men have done the unthinkable and are one step away from winning the Europa League. The chance to end the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy is looming large, as they take on Manchester United in the final.

For Heung-Min Son, this game means a lot more. The ex-Bayer Leverkusen winger had the chance of moving to pastures new last summer. But the 32-year-old chose to stay so that he could get one last shot at achieving greatness at N17 and win a trophy. Well, that day is here. The Lilywhites have already beaten Man United thrice this season in all competitions, so there is a lingering feeling that they have the edge over the Red Devils.
Sam Allardyce slams Tottenham star Heung-Min Son for inconsistent performances
Tottenham captain Heung-Min Son has not had a good season by his standards. The club legend has struggled to find consistency in his performances, and it has affected the performances on the pitch. As of now, Big Ange prefers Mathys Tel over the Spurs No.7 in the starting eleven. The South Korea international still has the chance to be a hero in Tottenham’s biggest game in recent years.
However, ex-Premier League manager Sam Allardyce has not been impressed with Son’s performances this season. Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast (as transcribed by TBR Football), the ex-PL manager said,
“I have every admiration for Son but it looks like it’s getting a bit too tough for him now.”
Sam Allardyce did not mince his words and was straight to the point. The former West Ham manager suggested that Heung-Min Son deserves credit for what he has done at N17 in the last ten years. However, Big Sam also insisted that the Spurs No.7 is way past his best now and it is looking tough for the South Korean to get back in form.
Heung-Min Son is easily one of the greatest players in Tottenham’s recent history. The prolific winger has managed to score 173 goals for the Lilywhites and he sits fourth in the club’s all-time top-scorer list. He is arguably the best player to don the Lilywhite jersey in the last 15 years, alongside Harry Kane. If anyone knows how to bounce back from setbacks, it is the South Korea international.

The ex-Leverkusen winger has not even had a disastrous season, in terms of statistics. As per Sofascore, Son has scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists in 44 games in all competitions. These are not poor numbers for someone who is struggling to get regular gametime. However, fans will hope that the legendary winger steps up in the Europa League final and finally ends the club’s trophy drought.
