“More to come”- Tottenham star opens up on tough individual season at N17 amid uncertain future

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is aiming to end the season on a high
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has endured a ‘stop-start’ campaign under Ange Postecoglou this season. The Mali international has just not got going and he has also fallen down the pecking order under the Spurs manager. It has not been a productive season for the 28-year-old by any means and fans have also grown frustrated with the lack of consistency shown by the midfielder.
The Spurs No.8 arrived at Hotspur Way with such high hopes after enduring a successful stint at Brighton and Hove Albion. After a strong few months in the midfield for Big Ange’s side, the Malian’s performances just fell off the mark. He was quickly replaced by new arrivals last summer and could not get a spot in the first-choice starting eleven this season.

However, recent performances in the Europa League have reminded fans of the ‘old’ Bissouma. The midfielder earned the opportunity to fill the void left behind by Lucas Bergvall and performed brilliantly. The 28-year-old was one of the standout performers for Ange’s men in the Europa League semi-finals. It will not be wrong to assume that the Spurs manager will give Bissouma a deserved start in the upcoming Europa League final.
Tottenham star Yves Bissouma believes there is ‘more to come’ this season
Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is facing an uncertain future at N17. The Mali international is linked with a move away from the club after falling down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou. It was reported earlier that Aston Villa are interested in signing the midfielder for next season. But the 28-year-old must aim to end the season on a high for the Lilywhites before worrying about his future.
The Spurs No.8 believes that he can still contribute to the team and perform well for Tottenham after enduring a tough campaign. Talking about his season and if there is more to come in the upcoming games, Bissouma said (as transcribed by Football.london),
“Of course there’s more to come. We are always here for learning, I’m still learning. This season has been hard for me because I didn’t play much. The most important thing is if the team does good. I’m here to work and when my time comes, I play. As a professional, you have to be ready.”

The Mali international added,
“You have to understand it’s not just yourself – you are part of a group. You can’t control things sometimes. The only thing I know is, you have to work hard and never give up and be ready when your team needs you. That’s what I’m always trying to do.”
Yves Bissouma has insisted that there is more to come and he is still learning his trade at N17. The Spurs No.8 acknowledged that it has been a tough season for him but he is ready if an opportunity to showcase his talent arises. Bissouma also suggests that he is not giving up and he is ready if the team needs him in this crucial part of the season.

One will not be wrong to assume that the 28-year-old will get a nod in the starting eleven in the upcoming Europa League final. With James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall, and Dejan Kulusevski ruled out for the game, Ange Postecoglou will need to pin all his hopes on Yves Bissouma to try and get Tottenham over the line. And who knows? This might just be the turning point for Bissouma’s career at N17.
