Tottenham must fork out around €22 million for dynamic French international

Tottenham are set to battle Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Crystal Palace for the signing of Lyon ace Rayan Cherki
Tottenham Hotspur are in desperate need of fresh players after enduring their worst-ever Premier League campaign. The squad has been hit with an injury crisis, so addressing that and bringing in the required players will be the main job for Spurs as the season is nearing an end.
It is clear to see that club chairman Daniel Levy has changed their recruitment strategy in recent years. The Lilywhites are focusing on adding young, dynamic and hungry talents with bags of potential to their ranks. They are planning to build a team for the future and have certainly taken the right steps in the last few years, as evidenced by the rise of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray under Ange Postecoglou this season.
Bergvall and Gray have been two of the most consistent performers in an otherwise torrid domestic campaign at White Hart Lane, winning over the fans with their quality, commitment, versatility and desire to grow. If the North Londoners can follow the same pattern again in the forthcoming transfer window, it is very likely that they would have a much better 2025/26 season and compete well in the Premier League.

Tottenham have been among a host of European clubs keen on signing Lyon star Rayan Cherki. The Frenchman has been in scintillating form this season, delivering 32-goal contributions, and Spurs are looking to add him to their ranks for next season. The player has also recently confirmed his decision to leave Lyon at the end of the season, thanking the fans.
Now, according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Lyon are also open to offers for Rayan Cherki. They want around €22 million for their maverick talent to ease their financial situation, with Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa all vying for his signature.
At 21, Cherki is rated as one of the great promises of French football. He is now ready to take the next step in his career, and a move to Tottenham would be fantastic. On current form, the France youth international could wreak havoc in Ange Postecoglou’s setup, both as a wide playmaker or a central operator as a No.10. He is quick, nippy, elusive, creative and can strike the ball with force with both feet.

James Maddison is the only pure No.10 in the current Tottenham squad, and someone like Cherki would not only be ideal to ease the creative burden off his shoulders but also compete with the England international for a regular starting berth. The Lyon ace has a bit of an edge to his game too, and such a personality would do well to enhance the Lilywhites’ squad.

That said, at just €22 million, Tottenham could make a daylight robbery by signing Cherki from Lyon. Daniel Levy simply cannot miss out on a maverick like him as he’d slot directly into the next phase of how Spurs want to evolve.
